GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the ASD Supports Manager, the Autism Support Specialist is responsible for providing supervision and support to each individual to develop and grow towards greater independence.
Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the residents served.

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
College courses in Social Services preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years experience in working with individuals with autism/developmental/behavioral health disabilities preferred.
Maintains apartment life in a harmonious environment so all residents can participate in and enjoy that environment.
Understands the needs of residents on the autism spectrum and provides the support and direction they require .
Implements person centered planning specific to each resident.
Maintains health and safety standards while encouraging resident independence and skill development.
Assists individuals with activities of daily living (personal care, meal planning and preparation, medication, etc.) as needed.
Assists in the general maintenance of company vehicle via proper care, washing and monitoring of condition; does related.
Listens to residents who may need to express an opinion or concern and make referral, if necessary, to the Supports Manager or Behavioral Consultant.
As assigned, assists in the orientation of new personnel by instruction, example and guidance.
Participates in the completion of assessment tools in the formulation of person centered planning.
Implements individual plans of support, including behavioral/emotional support.
Provides documentation and maintains accurate records for each resident’s program plan.
Attends group support and staff meetings, offering construction suggestion and positive participation.
Participates in ongoing in-service trainings
Performs housekeeping duties as assigned
Assists and encourages individuals in the area of community integration, e.g., transportation, shopping, banking, dining, participation in classes, jobs, scheduled activities, household responsibilities and leisure activities
