About the role

As a back-end software developer at Sawatch Labs, you'll be responsible for helping build and improve our data processing, modeling, and object creation. We deal with GIS and temporal data-sets measured in billions of rows.

Additionally, you will assist in providing our clients with actionable insights into our data-driven results. This involves distilling complex concepts into digestible take-aways, which are then presented via clear, compelling visualizations and succinct messaging.

You will work closely with all members of the technical/development team, including participating in code reviews and peer programming. You will also strive to improve overall development team efficiency by building on and improving existing testing, CI/CD and code review procedures, and establishing best-practice standards.

You will regularly liaise with the operations/business development side of the house to prioritize upcoming client deliverables.

Experience/skills required

4-8 years of experience as a software developer;
4+ years experience working in Python;
Experience working with GIS;
Experience working with testing frameworks;
Demonstrated understanding of test-driven development best practices;
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work autonomously;
Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
Must have good problem solving and decision-making skills along with the ability to exercise sound judgment.

Desirable experience

Experience working in JavaScript;
Experience developing and/or maintaining APIs;
Experience creating visualizations of complex datasets.

This role is suitable for either in-person or remote work from within the United States. Our office is located in Denver, CO.

The anticipated salary range for this position is 95k to 160k (DOE) with significant equity in the form of options, healthcare benefits including vision and dental, flexible hours and 4 weeks PTO per year.

In accordance with Colorado law, the salary range provided is our reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
