Job Description

Position Summary: Position is responsible for reaching out to potential clients and develops relationships on behalf of the organization to acquire new accounts. We work with lots of government / granted organizations, so completing paperwork and proposals will be a big part of the job. Must present well on paper and in person. Should be comfortable working in a diverse environment, with creative professionals. An ideal candidate for the position is smart, and confident in his/her ability to connect with clients and understand their needs. He/she will also have an appreciation/understanding of the design, marketing, and advertising field. Will serve as a liaison between PDU and current and future clients.

Public Design Unit is a creative services firm that serves Public sector clients – government, education, arts, civic, community, and do-gooder corporate brands and foundations.

The position consists of the following essential functions:

• Research federal, state and local government contracts
• Identify strong future clients within the established scope of clients we serve • Submit long and short form proposal to RFPs and client requests
• Prepares client proposals, estimates and sales packages (includes supplemental information required on RFPs)
• Maintains a data base of up-to-date information on current and future clients and status of work completed
• Phone and email follow-up with current and future clients
• Complete projects on time and within budgets
• Prepare proposals for grant packages
• Collect market research to inform sales process
• Interface with current and future clients, assess needs on potential projects
• Possible community involvement on behalf of PDU

• College degree or equivalent experience is preferred; BA/BS in Sales, Business, Marketing, communications, or other applicable field. Minimum GPA 3.25 for recent grads
• A passion for customer service and excellent interpersonal skills
• Organized with strong attention to detail
• Strong writing, editing and proofreading abilities A MUST
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Knowledge of Marketing, PR, Social Media, Market Research and Design industry
• Positive ‘can do’ attitude
• Ability to work independently and maintain focus
• Demonstrated verbal communication skills
• Community involvement a plus
• Grant writing experience a plus
