At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you’ll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.
Building the world’s leading sound experience starts with the experience we provide for our people. That’s why we’ve been distributed from the start: initially between offices in Boston & Santa Barbara, and now with additional offices in Seattle, San Francisco & Paris. This role can be done from anywhere in the United States- any of our offices, or remotely from home. It’s about impact, not location.

The opportunity
As Sonos products have evolved from local network music players to a modern cloud-connected IoT device, our Software Platform is moving from a LAN-centric to a high scale, high availability secure cloud-first architecture. As Cloud Architect, your job will be to provide technical leadership across a complex system of 60+ microservices spanning content, control and configuration APIs, core infrastructure, authentication and authorization, and strategic partner integrations, just to name a few. You will push for the state of the art of cloud engineering, serve as technical advisor to senior leadership, as well as subject matter expert, mentor and advisor to engineering teams. You are comfortable in front of a whiteboard, but you also love to build things. This is a hands-on role, in which you will be expected to deliver the solutions you design to production.

  • Ensure technology decisions and architecture standards are keeping up with the state of the art in the industry.
  • Contribute to the development of our engineering competencies by monitoring industry and technology trends and directions.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology and frameworks for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market.
