Current contract employee. Really appreciate the PTO and sick time. Insurance is subsidized and is with Cigna; coverage is quite good. Just wish the 401k match were more than 1% (The wording is a bit misleading; the match is a 1% match up to 10% of employee-contributed income, not a 10% match).
Pros: 401k with 10% match for 10% contribution + Health insurance Cons: No vacation, no paid holidays, 40 hours MAX a year for sick leave even if you have contributed and have more hours available.
401K with 10% match is the best thing about the benefits. Otherwise, premiums are pretty expensive and full-time contractors only get 5 paid days off per year and 5 paid sick days. The middling vacation time — it never increases AND is only accessible after an entire year of employment — combined with high cost of insurance and zero coverage for disability are disappointing. You also don’t get an HSA (just an FSA) or life insurance and I consider these very basic necessities for how hard we work.
