We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to lead and oversee our engineering department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience (at least 5 years of which must be in managing an engineering department doing product design work) within the automotive or aerospace manufacturing industry and a proven track record of successfully managing cross-functional teams including both mechanical and electrical engineers. The Director of Engineering will play a crucial role in driving innovation, operational excellence, and strategic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong leadership to the engineering team, including electrical and mechanical engineers. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment, setting clear objectives and providing guidance to achieve departmental and company goals.

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with the company's long-term vision and objectives. Drive innovation, product development, and process improvements to enhance overall performance.

Project Management: Oversee the execution of complex engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Identify and address potential roadblocks or risks during project lifecycles.

Technical Expertise: Utilize your in-depth knowledge of automotive or aerospace manufacturing processes and engineering principles to provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team.

Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering department. Identify areas for optimization and efficiency gains in engineering processes, product design, and manufacturing.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the engineering budget. Efficiently allocate resources to maximize productivity and meet project requirements.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements for all engineering projects and products.

Strategic Procurement: Leverage your experience in strategic procurement to establish strong vendor partnerships and negotiate favorable contracts for engineering-related services, materials, and equipment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance, to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts with other business functions.

Talent Development: Identify training and development needs for the engineering team, nurturing their professional growth and ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce.

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

· Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in the automotive manufacturing industry, with a focus on product development and innovation.

· At least 5 years of experience managing and leading teams of electrical and/or mechanical engineers.

· Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.

· Strong technical expertise in automotive or aerospace manufacturing processes and engineering principles.

· Experience in strategic procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiation.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Demonstrated ability to develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with company goals.

· Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

· Experience utilizing Solid Works
