Job Description

Agency Description Eden I & R, a nonprofit agency in the heart of Alameda County since 1976, provides 24/7 access to comprehensive and quality information about low-cost housing and human services to homeless individuals, families and others seeking critical services countywide.

Position Description: The Director of Information Technology reports to the Executive Director and isresponsible for managing the agency’s servers, desktop computers, computer network, phone system, databases, websites, and supervising the Information Management Department.The IT Director also plans for equipment and software upgrades, works with contractors and vendors, contributes to grant proposals, and assists staff in collecting and analyzing data for reporting purposes. The position also oversees and contributes to the production of printed directories and other resources produced using information from the agency’s Human Services and Housing databases. The IT Director directly supervises the Information Technology Specialist, Information Management Supervisor and Information Management Resource Specialists.


Duties Include:

  • Ensure the agency’s computer network, databases, and phone system are properly maintained and operable 24/7
  • Research and recommend appropriate hardware and software
  • Maintain computer equipment and troubleshoot hardware and software problems for both internal and remote users
  • Work with staff to develop and design special reports and restructure databases as necessary to meet the needs of new or revised programs
  • Compile and analyze data, transfer data between different software, and prepare graphical and tabular summaries of data
  • Provide documentation and training for staff as necessary when modifications are made to the agency’s database systems
  • Work with management staff, the Information Management Department and outside contractors to enhance on the agency's web site and other projects
  • Act as agency liaison to appropriate collaboratives dealing with Management Information Systems and technology issues
  • Collaborate with outside computer consultants as needed
  • Ensure agency databases are meeting nationally established standards, such as the AIRS Taxonomy for Information and Referral
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing budget variances, and initiating corrective action when necessary
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures
  • Oversee the production of the agency’s annual services directory
  • Provide technical training for staff when necessary
  • Supervise Information Management Department staff and Information Technology Specialist
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Executive Director

Position
Requirements: ·
  • Advanced knowledge of FileMaker databases and database software including FileMaker Server, version 11 or higher.
  • Experience managing and maintaining Windows Server 2008 server and Active Directory in a virtualized environment
  • Working knowledge of computer networks, and networking hardware
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft Office 365; Adobe InDesign.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Experience in designing and maintaining web sites
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent strategy and planning skills
  • Staff management/leadership experience
  • Ability to work well in a team management environment as well as independently
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
