      Job Description:

      BACR's Expanded Learning Program at Francis Scott Key Elementary school is seeking committed and passionate Assistant Instructors to change the future of students by leading academic, physical, and enrichment activities as part of our Expanded Learning Programs in San Francisco. As an assistant instructor you will help the Program Instructor lead and mentor up to 20 youth in an expanded learning setting. Be part of an innovative and creative team that impacts the community, makes the world a better place, and provides equity in education.

      Commitment: August 2025 to June 2026 (Full Academic School Year)

      Program Hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays- 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm; Wednesdays: 12:30 pm to 6:00pm

      Benefits:

      • Pay rate: $23-$25 per hour based on experience and location

      Responsibilities:

      • Support and maintain emotional and safe environment

      • Be a positive role model for struggling students

      • Have fun engaging students in lesson plans that support school day learning

      • Run community circles based on restorative practices

      • Ability to collaborate with youth to support their learning and development (youth-driven curriculum)

      • Ability to model BACR Best Practices as shown in our website

      • Able to practice open, clear and consistent communication, commitment to participate in professional development.

      Minimum Requirements
      • Ability to work Monday – Friday until 6:00 pm for the duration of the school year or about 23.5 hours per week
      • Ability to pass criminal background check and TB test clearance
      • Must have an AA degree or higher, 48 + college credits OR pass the Instructional Aide Exam
      • Must be able to communicate openly in a professional manner with students, parents, community partners, and BACR staff.

      Preferred Requirements
      • Have strong classroom management skills
      • Experience working with elementary youth
      • Ability to plan and facilitate activities for up to 20 students
      • Must be able to work independently or part of a team
      • Actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times
      • Model positive and proactive attitudes, behaviors and language

      Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.
