As we celebrate 125 years of educating professional nurses, the Jefferson College of Nursing is seeking interested faculty members to join our team as we implement our new 21st century baccalaureate curriculum, Promoting Health and Quality of Life Along the Care Continuum. Our curriculum is built on four themes: innovation, interprofesional collaboration, population health, and practice excellence.

Interested applicants must possess visionary, creative leadership skills to provide implementation of new curriculum. Responsibilities include collaborating with undergraduate faculty for course planning, implementation, and evaluation; and identifying student opportunities for service learning, experiential learning, immersion practica and needed resources. Faculty members collaborate with the undergraduate Associate Dean, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes.

As a faculty member, the applicant must have enthusiasm for teaching future professional nurses. Faculty members serve as advisors and mentor for students and participate in college meetings and committees. Current practice, scholarship and service to the community are desired. Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential.

DIRECTOR: Doctor of Nursing Practice Program

Position Responsibilities:
  • The Doctor of Nursing Practice director ensures congruence between the mission of the College and University and the educational goals of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and in congruence with standards established by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Pennsylvania Board of Nursing, and certifying agencies. The Director collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in planning, implementing, and evaluating the Doctor of Nursing Practice curricula in cooperation with the faculty and staff.
  • The role of the DNP Director also establishes and implements an efficient system for day to day program operations, schedules planning and evaluation meetings with teaching faculty pre-term and post-term for scheduled courses, tracks and participates in obtaining clinical placements for students, plans and implements orientation of new students.
  • The Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in planning teaching assignments and course scheduling, maintaining open channels of communication with students, course faculty, and staff, serves as mentor and role model for teaching and practicum faculty, provides an environment conducive to student engagement and participation and the assimilation and enrichment of a diverse student body. The Director provides oversight for student advisement and remediation, serves as resource person to faculty for course related responsibilities, oversees maintenance of the program’s database in collaboration with staff, prepares monthly and annual reports, collaborates with the College’s leadership team and University support services related to recruitment, marketing, admission, registration, progression, and graduation activities, verifies that students have met all requirements for graduation in collaboration with faculty. The Director has teaching responsibilities within the DNP program and serves on College committees and on select University committees.
Position Qualifications:

The Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program has an earned doctorate in nursing or related discipline from an accredited college or university, preferred master’s degree preparation in nursing or related discipline and is licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. An academic appointment of Assistant Professor or above based on JCN promotion guidelines and evidence of progressive academic responsibilities and teaching with demonstrated scholarly productivity. Conditions of Employment
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
