Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Pay: $32,000 - $37,000 annually commensurate with experience

Position Summary: This position involves independent work coordinating and carrying out administrative and investigative functions of the Consumer Protection Division for the Office of the Attorney General. This is a responsible position necessitating the ability to perform the major portion of the duties assigned with a minimum amount of supervision.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in law enforcement, civil investigations, fraud or white-collar investigations, or any financial-related investigations or analysis. Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Preference will be given to applicants with:

An associates or bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Finance, Accounting, Business, Paralegal Studies or a related field of study.
Experience working in an investigative or investigative support role, such as an investigative analyst or paralegal
Experience working in the areas of fraud, white collar crimes, economic crimes, or consumer protection
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel – (data entry, tracking, sorting and filtering, pivot tables, etc.)
Experience preparing professional memoranda of findings that may include charts, graphs, spreadsheets, or other means of representing the discovered facts.
Use of Social Media, Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), and internet resources to identify individuals, links between organizations, determine size and composition of businesses, and identify assets for forfeiture.
Experience reviewing and responding to consumer complaints

The Work You Will Do:

This position will provide analytical support and investigative assistance to the Investigators and Attorneys, including, but not limited to the following duties:

Review and evaluate consumer complaints to determine if a violation of Florida law exists.
Prepare reports, statistics, correspondence, and memoranda relating to all analytical duties, including preparation of statistical reports, charts, and spreadsheets relating to data research and/or analysis.
Utilize computer skills relating to e-mail and Internet transactions to trace or analyze transmission paths of messages or transactions.
Assist with preparation of cases for trial, through coordination with attorneys, investigators, and other law enforcement, as appropriate.
Communicate with victims, witnesses, defendants, attorneys, corporate personnel, law enforcement investigators or any other persons who may have information concerning ongoing investigations.
Assist consumers with questions and general updates on matters under your review, under the supervision and direction of the investigator.
Use computers and other computer programs with high degree of skill. Requires strong knowledge and skills in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and with Adobe Pro.
Review and evaluate consumer complaints to determine if a potential violation of Florida price gouging law exists. Conduct site visits and contact businesses to evaluate allegations of price gouging, assist with possible resolution of the complaint, serve preservation letters and/or investigative subpoenas, interview witnesses and gather evidence, including during a declared state of emergency. Obtain and analyze documents to determine whether a price is unconscionable. Assist in ensuring that price gouging complaints are timely investigated. This will require working extended hours, working on weekends and may require working on holidays during a declared State of Emergency. This may also involve travelling to other affected regions to assist with the price gouging investigations.
Identify and conduct appropriate investigative steps in the course of an investigation.
Assist investigators and attorneys with special assignments, which may require extended hours and/or travel outside the worksite.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Perform other assigned tasks and duties in a timely fashion as required.

The selection process may include a Microsoft Excel skill assessment exercise. This skills exercise must be completed in-person in one of the Attorney General’s offices.
