As a technician in our Carol Stream facility, you will be a part of the team that performs specialized automation and controls enabling the conversion of raw materials to finish products. You will also inspect, repair, program and optimize controller based automation systems and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Troubleshooting and Repair: Program software, troubleshoot system, and repair hardware associated with new and existing PLCs and VFD throughout the site. Write, complete and verify work orders and preventive maintenance. Electrical trouble shooting up to 480. Rigging, hoisting, and machinery placement. Adjust, rebuild, replace or modify machines.
Partner and Influence: Instructs technicians in proper maintenance and instructs production personnel in the proper operation of these systems. Act as technical liaison during construction projects involving instrumentation and control systems. Participates in start-up and troubleshooting of new installations and assists in training of other staff as needed.
Analyze and Design: Ensures compliance with specifications prepared in design phase of project. Ability to and use various styles of tubing/piping for various trades and their proper applications. Design and fabrication tooling from scratch or diagrams. Analyze equipment, determine sound mechanical/electrical repair options, order parts as required, perform rebuilds/repairs and follow-up upon completion/parts arrival. Implement preventive and predictive maintenance.

Your professional profile includes:
A 2-year technical degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferable
Minimum of 5 years process controls and PLC programming experience is required
Must be able to handle multiple tasks, have excellent attention to detail.
Dependability, effective communication skills, good troubleshooting & diagnostic skills.
Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP) knowledge is desired
May be exposed to hot or cold temperatures while working as well as fumes and odors from the maintenance shop. Will be required to participate in Medical Testing Program and Hazardous Materials training.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 kg. Requires occasional bending, crouching and kneeling. Use of both hands is needed.
