The Medical Assistant is assigned to perform patient-oriented procedures and tasks at all LLUHC sites, within scope of education and training, and under the supervision of physician, supervisor, and/or licensed staff person. Exemplifies the Values and Mission of LLUHC. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP); and/or current national MA certification required. Minimum two years of clinical experience required. EMR (electronic medical record) super user required. Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required within 90 days of hire. Phlebotomy/venipuncture school certification preferred. Medical Assistant (MA) state or national certification preferred. Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to use a computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Valid Driver's license required at time of hire. Must have ability to travel to various clinic locations as needed.
