ABOUT THE ROLE Trojan Battery Company is looking for a Production Manager. This position will provide you with the opportunity to partner with a dynamic and analytical group who set a high bar for innovation and success in a high-growth environment. The Production Manager will provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to drive achievement of individual and team performance goals. You will direct, supervise, organize and assign work while maintaining a high level of quality and productive climate. An ideal candidate is willing to adopt Trojan Battery standards for safety for both the employees and manufacturing environment while implementing lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement techniques. You will set goals and be key in training department Team Leads and employees, as well as assign work to Team Leads to ensure a safe environment, high-quality product, and review equipment set ups.
Not only will you work closely with your direct reports, you will evaluate the departments’ operating plans ensuring adherence to them and advising Sr. VP/General Manager of possible changes required and reasons for change to promote and maintain high productivity. The Production manager will meet or exceeds standard operating rates and improves productivity through continuous improvement. You will monitor production activities to ensure they are performed within established operating procedures and results meets or exceed business plan/budget/personal goals.

Plan and coordinate production requirements.
Supervise many direct reports.
Evaluate performance, provide feedback, and complete annual performance reviews.
Lead the assignment of all production activities for all shifts.
Assume all the responsibilities of Emergency Coordinator.
Administer and assist with safety violation and warnings and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
Evaluate, develop and implement cost reduction and scrap control activities; eliminate waste and non-value-added processes.
Maintain a safe working environment by assuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, e.g. OSHA, EPD, and company regulatory statues or theft/damage to property and information.
Plan, organize, and administer departmental systems, procedures, operating budgets, manpower, and controls for cost-effective operation – maximize production objectives, while maintaining quality and meeting output requirements.
Interpret and analyze data to communicate to teams on improvements or declines in productivity and overall performance.
Assure all team members are adequately trained to perform responsibilities of their position.
Provide the coaching and continuous feedback necessary for individual and team growth.
Develop team to have ability to solve their own day-to-day operational issues.
Follow all quality system procedures.
Administer policies and procedures.
Utilize Six Sigma tools to improve the processes and generate change to eliminate waste.
Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment.
Successfully lead team by exemplary leadership, integrity, and character.
Able to work in a cross-functional team environment.
Must be inclined to take charge and begin incremental improvement without waiting for an ultimate solution.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience working at a supervisory level within a high-volume manufacturing operation; battery industry experience preferred.
Bachelor Degree or equivalent in combination of training, knowledge, and related experience in ISO environment.
Proficient in English.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with ERP systems is required.
Intermediate mathematical skills.
Experience utilizing quality tools/techniques within a manufacturing environment (e.g. Lean); Six Sigma preferred.
Must be able to provide effective leadership for subordinates, while building a teamwork environment.
Must have an open, supportive management style, with the self-confidence to accept guidance and direction as needed.
Good oral and written communication skills (ability to interface with internal and external customers).
Must be flexible with shift availability.
