Our local Fairfax, VA / Washington, DC office is currently seeking a Project Architect to join the Architectural Practice with focus on our Federal & Transportation Market. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and exposure to a wide variety of clients and different markets. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead a multidiscipline project team in the development of architectural design and the preparation of construction documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure coordination of project requirements and collaborate as necessary.
  • Responsible for product research and coordinating technical aspects of the design of a project.
  • Keep Project Manager and Principals informed of progress, issues and/or need for assistance.
  • Follow corporate and/or client standards for project production and review.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and manage time effectively to meet project deliverables.
  • Develop presentations, designs and technical solutions through all phases of a project.
  • Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes.
  • Experience with construction support including review of shop drawings, RFI’s, site inspection and reports.
  • Perform QA/QC and technical reviews
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is required
  • Registered Architect in at least one of the following: VA, MD, and DC
  • 7-10 years or more years of experience in an architecture design and preparation of construction documents.
  • Experience with federal sector projects (DOD) and/or Transportation
  • U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain secret clearance
  • Detailed knowledge of current International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, LEED, and knowledge of related standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASHRAE etc.
  • Highly proficient in REVIT Building Information Modeling Architecture with experience in both design and construction documentation is required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam Revu
  • Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.
  • An attitude and commitment to be an active participant in our Gannett Fleming Culture
  • A desire to participate in the A/E/C Industry Organizations like AIA, SAME, ACEC, DBIA, etc.
