Summer 2023 Legal Internships
Apply Now

The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) is the largest membership organization of asylum seekers in the United States, with over 400,000 members from 175 countries. ASAP members gain access to critical resources and join a collective effort to build a United States that welcomes individuals fleeing violence.

ASAP is currently accepting applications for legal interns to join our remote team in Summer of 2023.

Interns will work under attorney supervision to support ASAP’s members — over 400,000 asylum seekers from over 175 countries and all 50 states. Internship responsibilities could include: doing legal research and writing in support of litigation matters, responding to ASAP members’ questions, analyzing legislation and policy proposals related to immigration and asylum seekers’ rights, researching emerging issues and writing blog posts for ASAP members about key policy updates, and attending internal and coalition meetings remotely.

Legal interns must be currently enrolled in law school and pursuing a U.S. law degree. Please note that Spanish proficiency and a language assessment over the phone is strongly preferred for any internship position with ASAP; interns must be capable of drafting written responses to members’ questions in Spanish. ASAP will ensure that all interns receive school credit or compensation for their internships. ASAP has a remote workplace, and location is flexible.

Remote workplace, location flexible within the US.

We will be considering candidates on a rolling basis and will close our cycle on March 17, 2023.
