Production Description:
Seeking Technical Director/Master Carpenter for The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse’s up coming and future seasons in Cocoa Florida. A Typical Season Consist of 5 Musicals, 3 children’s musicals with minimal scenic elements, and around 10 various short productions not normally calling for a set but needing load in and set up of provided scenic pieces. The season
Last from Mid August Through Mid July. The TD/Master Carpenter will be responsible for supervising and participating in the build of the season, supervising all build aspects, supervising daily/changeovers, budgeting the shows, communicating with designers, creating build drawings/schematics, and overseeing/managing the work hours and duties of the Two assistant carpenters.
The TD/MC is a leadership role that makes sure the scenic elements are on-time and on- budget. This position reports to the The C.E.O. and works closely with the Scenic Designer through their conceptualization and design process.

Duties: Engineer, construct, build and install and strike all scenic elements for the season, communicating with Executive Director regarding any general shop and supplies needs, Clean and do maintenance for the shop as needed and then once thoroughly at the end of the season, manage and supervise all load-in and strike dates sometimes involving the transport of scenic pieces to and from off site storage facilities, communicate regularly with Designers, and
Executive Director regarding budget tracking, design integrity, and notes, manage the budget and account for all scenic expenditures, including collection of receipts and invoices, attend production meetings taking place at the beginning of each show, prepare necessary drawings in drafting program of choice, order, purchase, schedule delivery, or pick up necessary building materials, including equipment as needed, Order necessary rental trucks and waste receptacles for load ins, strike and transportation of set.

Requirements:
1 year of Technical Direction or Master Carpentry experience mastery of wood scenic construction techniques and scenic engineering,
Must know how to read draftings.
Should have knowledge of professional digital drafting programs, set construction, rigging
(counter weight)
Ability to run a crew on multiple projects at one time. ability to motivate, manage and coordinate staff members of varying skill levels.
Ability to recognize, augment and/or fill in the gaps in the crew's skill set.
Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in high places,
Able to drive a 26’ box truck rental is a plus, ideal candidate would have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Work for a show is typically Monday-Friday 9-5pm for 5 weeks with 1-2 weeks off between shows. There are occasional weekend Load ins
