Job Description


We are building a next generation mobile development platform that handles the entire native mobile application lifecycle. This will drastically simplify the way applications are designed, built, modified, and deployed.

Vice President of Engineering

The VP of Engineering will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for the day to day supervision of all development related activities.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering will be a group of highly skilled technologists which may include, but not limited to: Java Developers, Front End Developers, Mobile Developers, and UI Designers. The VP of Engineering will also collaborate closely with our organization to consider customer feedback and requirements for development scheduling.


The VP of Engineering is responsible for all aspects of the day to day, task by task coding activities of the development team managing the team’s daily progress as a group as well as individual contributions.

The VP of Engineering will collaborate with the CEO and the engineering team to set the technology direction of the Company using industry standards, specific technologies, best practices methodology, helping to prioritize the products functionality, helping to determine scope of releases.

  • Recruit, grow, mentor, and coach a multi-disciplinary high-performance technology team.

  • Understand the business goals of the company and orient the development of the technical group to support those goals. Play a key role in executing the Company’s business strategy in support of key elements of the technical delivery.

  • Develop and manage internal/ external development and engineering organizations supporting product development and consultative solution delivery.

  • Continue to improve the development processes, including agile methodologies and continuous automated testing to support effective and timely delivery of product and/or consultative solutions.

  • Play a key role in supporting business strategy and services offered to customers. This may include some customer pre and post sale activities.

  • Monitor and analyze the marketplace for new technologies.

  • Participate in seminars, panels, speaking engagements as required.

  • Assist with Vendor relationship management .

Skills You Will Need:

  • Experience working in a startup environment.

  • A proven track record of building and directing an engineering organization.

  • Solid expertise in Agile Development and Open Source frameworks.

  • Working knowledge of No-SQL/SQL, iOS, Cocoa, Objective-C, Android, Java, Javascript, JSON, APIs, HTML5, and Ruby.

  • Experience developing solutions which is utilizing hosted environments such as AWS, Rackspace, Salesforce.com or similar.

  • Solid client interfacing skills. Although this position is primarily an internal function, excellent interpersonal skills and experience working/understanding client needs is important in order to support business strategy and services offered to customers.

Ideally You Should Have the Following:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field required with 10+ years of recent experience as VP of Engineering or similar senior level role overseeing and developing world class Software Development Team.

  • Strong technical project management skills and prior hands on development experience in a myriad of technologies such as Java, Front-end Development, Service Oriented Architecture, Relational Databases, and Agile methodologies.

  • 3+ years working for software development firm(s) involved in developing state of the art technology solutions is an absolute must.

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
