Anyone from Grant Thornton able to give me a referral?
Does anyone else feel like PA is just a series of partners pulling up the ladder behind them? First it’s my firm getting rid of promotion from SM to partner, now they’re saying they’re reducing promotions from manager to SM. So we get to work long hours for mid to decent salaries, trash bonuses, and uncertain if any long term pay off. I would quit to industry immediately but honestly industry job market/salaries are high key ass
“A Skills Gap Is Turning Cleaning for the Rich Into a $100,000 Job As the wealthy get wealthier and fuel a boom in luxury furnishings, highly trained household staff are in high demand.” Why are all these jobs no college degree paying as much as accountants or more ? Accountants keep getting the short end of the stick
CFO sent out a memo saying we, as a company, need to start leveraging AI better. No further information on how to do this or why using AI is so important. I guess I don't get the point of this request, what am I missing? Because I'm just sitting here feeling confused and weirdly icky.
Which of the Big 4 are the worst at handling layoffs? It's KPMG, right?
Big 4 salaries come with big burnout risks. I'm currently at Deloitte, and I'm running on fumes. However, I'm too afraid to take a step back or take time off because I never know when layoffs will hit and I don't want to be seen as weak. So I keep pushing myself. How do you guys work yourself to the point of exhaustion and yet avoid burnout?
Avoid GT at all costs
I’m ex GT. I would not go back there.
Chicago
Not sure why everyone is shitting on GT. The transformation group is awesome and I truly enjoy working with everyone intern to partner. Currently a manager and I still get lots of diverse experience and opportunity to lead.
Would you mind if I dm you to learn more about the transformation group in GT?
I’m current GT telling you to listen to CR1
RSM reduced its referral to from 7.5k to 5k for seniors. I think we are weathering the staffing shortage a little better than most firms. If anything we have more seniors now than last two years. For northeast at least. So let me know if you want to work for teams that are actually staffed 🫠
I’m ex GT as well and agree with the above
I love gt and would be happy to refer
GT culture is toxic. Management pretends they care about employees but it’s all a show. The firm has bad politics, you work crazy hours (even during summers due to benefit plans), people tend to have big egos, and the firm is stingy. They will try to get you to drink their koolaid through a firehose.
Literally lol
Why go to GT when I’m here for you?
Already know you’re talking nonsense because we have a service delivery center in India for almost 2 years now.
Like all big companies, you will interact with some you like and some you don’t. I think you’ve heard from 2 people that had bad experiences here and some that haven’t. However , there are 8k people at the firm. My advice has been the same for the past decade, meet at many people as possible that you will work with and decide for yourself which people you want to work with everyday. You are in a unique position to choose where you want to go given the current staffing at ALL firms. Be happy to talk to you about my experience at GT and provide referral.
Why not Big 4? GT has all the cons of Big 4 without any of the benefits
I’d say so. Congrats
I know we're supposed to "captain our career" but my experience here is that leaders don't do much to develop talent. Maybe all the firms are this way but ive found the coaching, coachee experience to be pretty underwhelming. Its sink or swim w/ a lack of true mentorship
What about EY? DM me for EY referral
At gt… agree w everybody. Need to leave
