The older I get, the more I realize that career advice from successful people can sometimes be really unhelpful because their path depended on timing, luck, or a very specific environment. Has any common career advice stopped making sense to you?

Two things I want to eliminate from my life this fall:  Driving   Running errands   I’m going to sell my car this summer and only use Waymo, Uber, and Lyft.   I’m done. Sick of it. The future is here, so why not take advantage of the perks.

I was just separated from my company this morning. After being put on a PIP plan (which btw came as a surprise). Never not once was I told that I’m doing something wrong. In the end, I think I was put on this ridiculous plan because one of the executives stopped liking me. Ever since then, I’ve been targeted up until this point. What do I do?

How many of your PTO days do you typically take?

I got a nice review recently, but no change in comp or scope, and it made me wonder how much praise matters without action behind it. Kind words are great, but they don’t pay rent. Do you value recognition if it doesn’t come with tangible reward?
