The top producer in our group is a complete sociopath, but because he brings in $20M a year, HR treats him like he’s untouchable. He’s made three analysts cry this month alone and regularly forgets to include women on client emails, yet he’s the first one mentioned in the quarterly town hall. It’s demoralizing to work in an environment where culture is a buzzword that clearly doesn't apply to the people making the most money. Is it like this everywhere, or did I just land in the one shop that still thinks it’s 1985?

Which to choose for 1st IH role? A: Assist. Counsel/ Counsel at established co., but RTO 5 days/wk; slightly higher comp (<30K diff), more interesting work/ likely to build more transferable skillset, more training & mentorship B: AGC at a startup, but RTO 2 days/wk; less resources and budget (have to figure out more stuff on your own & limited ppl to ask for help), less desirable field/ work, lower comp I have 2-4 relevant YOE but can see myself learning a lot but different things at both.

When I started negotiating, I made the mistake of accepting the first offer because I felt I hadn’t “earned the right” to negotiate yet. What changed everything was preparing a one-page justification of my market rate using a few salary reports and concrete project outcomes. It made the conversation less emotional and more fact-driven. For those who negotiated early in their careers, what data sources or framing strategies worked best for you?

I'm trying to find a permanent role. Is Glassdoor, LI, etc. your first sources for open jobs? I've read that employers typically post openings on their company sites first before they end up on Glassdoor. If true, do I need to go to every career page of every company I'm interested in each day just to be one of the first to apply (and more likely get noticed)? Note: I'm subscribed to job RSS feeds for companies that offer them, but not all do.

Is it really about the quantity of content produced now? Or would you still argue that quality trumps quantity. When the folks who know what they're doing focus on quantity, you can't help but think there must be something to it. Folks being, Pepsi-Co and VaynerChuck media, who are now in a new relationship that they say is based on “co-sourcing”. Pretty much both parties share business KPIs!

Hi Team! I am very interested in founding a tech startup, but not sure how to come up with compelling idea(s) and get started. I’ve been dialoguing with ChatGPT, but feel as though I’m either lacking a real thought partner, or just not sure how to pare down what I’m getting from AI chats. Can anyone give guidance on how they started out? Thanks

"I recently heard someone say, ‘Your first job isn’t your forever job—it’s your learning lab.’ That stuck with me. Looking back, my first role taught me skills I never expected, but it also showed me exactly what I don’t want in my career. For those who’ve been in the workforce a while, what’s the most surprising thing you learned from your very first job?"

40-something Yr Old CD: We need culturally relevant influencers/star that Gen Z relate to. Me (chronically online, hip Gen Zer): Rattles off culturally relevant Gen Z streamers/influencers/content creators. 40-something Yr Old CD: Never heard of them, how about Paul Rudd? Me: Sure, dude from Clueless makes a lot of sense 😒

“Content Creator” seems to be the most popular job posting, and from what I can tell, it’s a combo of four jobs (art director, copywriter, director, editor), and usually only pays $70/hour. Help me understand what the job is, and which skills are necessary to be successful at the role.
