Stop telling me to network when what you really mean is work for free on your Saturdays. I’m tired of being told that attending voluntary bar association galas is the only way to get ahead in this industry. It’s just unpaid labor where we have to dress up and pretend to like people we’re actively litigating against. My personal brand shouldn't require me to sacrifice the only four hours of sleep I get a week. Am I the only one who thinks the obsession with networking is just an excuse to keep us in work mode 24/7?

Hi all, I'm currently a Senior Con in the TC Platforms Team. I was recently on a short BC stint where I was helping one of the Managers on a Business Case, and it was GENUINELY a great experience. There was lots of mind stimulating work and I was busy all day, and there was much to learn; how businesses organise themselves and how this specific industry works. All in all 9/10. And Manager was great too. REALLY nice. Now, I'm just wondering if there is anyway I can try to move from TC to BC?

Another gig ended for me today after 5+ years... seems ages ago that I was hyped and sparked by my newfound career in '97. Was grateful to have won some recognition for myself & my station and took some Emmy trinkets home one year. However, if I were to give that young man some advice back then, I'd say network your ass off. This business (broadcast) is not what it once was and keeping like-minded allies helps to keep your focus and progress going. I will move on... wish me luck.

Hi I'm currently wrapping up my first year MBA internship at a non target school and would like to network with MBB for full time positions before the application deadline in September. I would like to network with offices from the state I'm in (Georgia) and with the middle east as I'm from the MENA region. What is the way to approach this? What is the goal of networking apart from getting a referral? Are there any resources on how to network from a non target?

How does one network if they have no current network? I didn’t do it in school because I was very unsociable in general and tended to avoid speaking to people. Never had much confidence since it’s just my personality. Got by despite it, but now hiring is so brutal it seems impossible to get a job without knowing someone. I mostly worked at small companies where no one ever leaves, so now struggle to figure this all out almost 10 years into my career.

Hello. I’m a recent college graduate with a degree in multimedia communication with a sports broadcasting track. I networked very heavily in school and work for ESPN+ and various publications, but can not find a full-time position in any broadcasting field despite live experience in sports, news and radio production. Any suggestions on how to tackle this issue? It seems I’m not the only one in this position?

Ive never thought about sponsoring true crime podcasts before (and i dont find them particularly interesting myself), but its true that they have an extremely engaged community. Would your brand consider true crime podcasts as a potential channel? https://www.adweek.com/partner-articles/trust-loyalty-and-engagement-brands-can-have-it-all-with-true-crime-podcasts/?itm_source=site&itm_medium=HP&itm_campaign=a

Networking has changed drastically in our online world. It seems like networking is don’t almost exclusively online these days. Does anyone still network F2F? Have you been to any professional networking events? I’m learning how to build a network so I would love to hear your thoughts. How do you go about building your professional network? What are your favorite apps, events, or strategies to use?

Honestly I kinda want to start a boycott of ABC over this whole Kimmel thing, but not because I actually care. I just want to watch Republicans start watching ABC in response because the idea of a whole bunch of conservative guys watching 3 hours of The Bachelor just to “own the libs” is hilarious to me.

Comcast claims to be inclusive but it’s not. Top performers are laid off while Brian Roberts and Mike Cavanagh make tens of millions. Frontline staff start just over minimum wage, face racist and homophobic behavior, and get gaslit when they speak up. They support ICE and ask remaining employees to work overtime. This is little people vs. fat cats. Executives laugh while we get exploited.
