Wow, I guess saying 'I would like to not worry about rent, food, or medical care regardless of what job I have (AKA a livable wage) is considered entitled now a days. The funny thing is, if I could get the experience needed to get a higher paying job, I would!! But guess what!!! Getting experience, training, and other skills that qualify a person for those jobs take ---->time and money <---- that I am literally using to make less than ends meet right now!!!

Hey all. I’m currently in a position where I’m interviewing for two roles at large tech companies (Anthropic and DoorDash). The role at Anthropic is not necessarily one that I see myself in long term, while the role at DoorDash is partnerships and strategy for a new product/segment they’re developing. My issue is I think Anthropic on my resume will help with my career in tech more, but the job at DoorDash is more in line with my goals. I really just need some advice as to which to prioritize.

Would you accept an offer for 125k for 2000 billable hours? MCOL city. For some context, I was at my last firm for 5 years and had a difficult time with billables, left completely burnt out to take some time off and then try and go in house or government. It’s been a difficult job search and now have been unemployed for 8 months. I don’t know if accept to close the growing gap despite the high billable requirement.

Budgeting isn’t about restriction, it’s about control. Know where your money is going before you decide where it should go. Track your income, prioritize essentials, and give every dollar a purpose, spending, saving, and investing. A simple rule: live below your means, automate your savings, and review your numbers regularly. You don’t build wealth by what you earn alone, but by what you keep and how you manage it. You needs this for uncertainty hits you without you knowing.

My boss is asking every attorney to set a billable goal for the first quarter and asking what he can do to support us. On a scale of 1-10, I'm an ADHD 11 with a healthy dose of anxiety, so I appreciate the offer, but I also know he's a busy guy - I don't know how to respond. He's having a 1-1 meeting with each of us, and I've historically missed my hours, so I have to be prepared to address this seriously. Any suggestions? (We're a trust/estate firm)

Trying to reach out folks in Canada!! I’m returning to my job soon from depression and going to request some accommodations due to not fully recovered or kinda of long term disabled like concentration or memory loss. I’ll ask for 1)fully remote and 2)Quality driven work option rather than quantity driven one so my performance can be assessed. Worry abt will they kick me out…? no longer able to work under micromanaging and fast pacing tasks…

Q for Big 4 folks and any employment/immigration attorneys here: An EY recruiter asked for my friend’s EAD category after he confirmed unrestricted work authorization and no sponsorship needs. My read is this goes beyond what 8 USC §1324b permits, since the category discloses protected characteristics (type of status, basis of authorization). Curious whether (a) this is common practice at EY, (b) whether anyone has successfully pushed back

I’m in a tough predicament. The LA I work with works under 2 atty’s. One of which gives the LA a 10% incentive of bonus of the billable time since the LA enters it. The atty does this on their own volition. Concern is that LA got a raise last year for managing 3 atty’s, but LA only manages 2 now since one atty got pushed out. So my concern is that LA is slower towards the end of the month…should I say something to management?

I’ll be up for manger promotion next year but I’m also planning to have a baby. I feel like if I get pregnant now and take off early next year I might not be considered for promotion so I’m thinking of postponing my pregnancy . Am I thinking it right? Pls suggest me what should I do. I gave up so much to get here but I’ll be 40 this year so dont want to delay pregnancy plans either.

      Interview Tips

      Quality Manager
      7mo

In my process to achieve a new job opportunity, I have encountered several constraints that influence both the timeline and the effectiveness of my search. These constraints can be grouped into three main categories: 1. Market and External Constraints • Limited open • High competition for managerial or specialized roles • Economic or industry factors that may delay hiring decisions or limit available budgets for new positions.
