      Job Hunting in Tech

      Product Manager
      5mo

I’m noticing more companies emphasize passion for the mission, but when I dig in, the mission feels vague or interchangeable. I’m not opposed to caring about the work, but after layoffs and instability, I’m prioritizing compensation, benefits, and stability more than lofty statements. Sometimes a job really is just a job, and that shouldn’t be a moral failure. I worry that admitting this makes me sound unmotivated. Is it wrong to prioritize pay and stability over so-called mission alignment?

      Jobs in Healthcare

      Receptionist/ Recreation Aide
      3w

Hello, I have an interview for a position as a patient access representative w/ Ensemble Health Partners. I don't think it is a great option, because I really want a job that isn't customer facing and most of the reviews I see for the company are pretty bad. I've applied with HCA Healthcare for a Medical Records Specialist position and hope to hear back from them. I don't have experience with med records. Is there anyone who has done either job with those companies and have any tips? Thanks!

I'm really not certain where to post this. I'm currently in a Municipal Advisory role and have been interested in returning back to school to complete my Master's in Healthcare Administration with a Compliance focus, and then complete either the CHC or CHPC certifications. I don't currently know anyone in a Compliance role, rather it be Healthcare or anywhere else. I would love to meet new people in the field that can give me some insights and advice. Please comment if you're willing to chat!

In the big picture, one of the most important changes healthcare needs is lowering costs for patients while improving access. One way to help do that is by allowing health insurance companies to sell policies across state lines. Right now, they are limited to individual states. If insurers could compete nationwide, it would increase competition and create more affordable choices for patients. What other ideas do you have to help patients get better access to affordable healthcare?

      Healthcare

      Recent College Graduate HIT

I've recently graduated with my AAS (health information technology) and passed the RHIT exam. I have no history of healthcare experience (mostly office work, customer service, and hotels). Does anyone have any helpful hints on how to enter the healthcare field for health information? I'd like to work overnight but I feel like my lack of experience will hinder my chances. I'm not finding many (any) overnight jobs, and I'm applying to all kinds of positions that are in the HIT world.

      Ask A Recruiter - Healthcare

      Hiring Manager
      11mo

I've been wanting to make the shift to healthcare for a while now. It's almost as if it's a calling. I have no background in this field, but I feel very drawn to it. How can someone who has been in the hiring department for the creative and tech industries make the switch over to here? Help me figure out how I can get to understand the specific requirements, regulations, and credentials for healthcare roles and remain compliant with industry standards.

      The Water Cooler

      (Senior Operations Team Leader)

I’ve started doing the bare minimum at work, yet still twice what others do. I’ve been job searching for months, and my team knows I’m eager to leave. I’ve shared my reasons publicly, and they agree with most. I’ve had several high-value interviews but am often passed over because I’m switching industries, even after translating my duties. Any advice on achieving more consistency when moving from healthcare to business?

      Healthcare

      Assistant Project Manager

A coworker recently raised her voice at me in front of another staff member and questioned my professionalism regarding an intervention that had already been implemented by the physician and aligned with the legal decision maker. I understand that disagreement in healthcare is normal, especially with complex, high-acuity patients. However, I believe those discussions should be respectful and structured.

      Career Pivot

      Regional Operations Manager
      3mo

I’ve spent 20+ years in healthcare operations leadership managing complex, highly regulated environments and multi-site teams. Healthcare leadership requires balancing quality, financial performance, workforce, and compliance simultaneously. I’m exploring how to pivot this operational experience into other healthcare roles. For those who’ve made a similar transition, what paths translated well?

As we all know, healthcare just keeps getting more and more consolidated. I live in a rural area, and our local hospital, which has always been part of a bigger group, has recently centralized everything it does. This has contributed to the deterioration of care. Do you guys have any experience with this at your facilities? If so, what are your thoughts, and what can we do to reverse this trend?
