Non obvious take: this is not Al job loss. This is the Great DEl Hiring Unwinding. So many jobs were created over the past decade under fragile pretenses / immutable traits. le not talent. Hiring based on non talent traits left Amazon, in their eyes, bloated and inefficient. So they are addressing it. Al is the convenient air cover but not the root cause. The DEI Hiring Unwind may better explain this current wave of workforce displacement better than "Al".

I helped a friend with a job application today and watched Al turn her CV into three different people. One sounded like a CEO. One sounded like a superhero. One sounded nothing like her.
