Ive been thinking a lot about how the transition from physical to digital media has meant the loss of a lot of everyday art objects, and the jobs related to making art for a commercial purpose that drew me to the industry as a teen deciding to go to design school back in the day. I really miss cd and cassette tape inserts as design objects. They were so tactile and eclectic. There really isnt a lot of opportunity for designers to make objects that are more beautiful than practical these days.

      Job Hunting in Tech

I’m a UI/UX designer with a background in economics and customer experience, currently exploring product systems that prioritize transparency and trust. My journey into design started with curiosity about how digital experiences influence decision-making — especially in emerging tech spaces. I’m particularly interested in building structured, user-centered systems that solve real problems rather than just look good. Looking forward to connecting and learning from other professionals here.

I apply online for a restaurant management role (of which I have a good number of years experience) and am asked to fill out their electronic job application after submitting a resume. Sometimes it's an auto fill (which doesn't work properly and you have to double check everything) but usually your resume says it all and more in detail. Then...if you land an interview, they want a copy of your resume AND then they want you to fill out an application! Seems very odd to me.

Where are the digital pipeline jobs? Been in the digital pipeline since 2012 and worked steadily till the end of last year when i got laid off. Seems like jobs in the fulfillment end of encoding houses are going away to automation. Not much out there, but when I see things pop up that I am qualified for (even at times overqualified), submit applications/resumes and nothing happens. It's been a long time since I've been in the job market. And it's scary quiet out there.

I was moved to Digital department from Finance as my finance manager had issues with language and left me out of department communications. Now after 1.5 years my firm is putting pressure on me that i am not so suitable for digital as my knowledge is from finance. I am stuck and not sure what to do. i like work here i have been contributing to work. my renewal is due and worry they may ask me to leave.

      Career Advice for Students

I am planning to switch my career from tech to ai driven Digital Marketing after completing Msc IBM. I want to join to cohort, to learn and get a job. I have been researching on this n found courses like 100x . But they are pretty pricy and I am not sure if it is aligning to my field as it's more tech driven. Anyone having any suggestions on this. It's highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Okay so looking for a job is a daunting experience in this new era of social interaction, the automatic robot responses and the tailored options IA offers for resume and cover letter. How do we know our application makes some noise or even is looked at? As HR only uses ATS tools and recently IA interview. Does any one have an advice of how to deal with digital ghosting?

For anyone thinking to apply at TD, don’t do it. WOW is all but dead compared to the older days. Their application process is abysmal —> online studies show a high ghosting rate from managers and HR, even for internal applicants… That is, unless you work in fraud (they are under government review after the lawsuit last year from the government).

Hey McKinsey & Company fish! Applied to the Digital Associate position (US) and just completed Solve. Unfortunately didn’t do as well as I liked on it, was more challenging than I expected. Should I expect a rejection, or is it just one part of the application (e.g., resume and referrals are still important) for getting an R1?

Curious for those at Boston Consulting Group . Does aligning with a pyramid work differently if you are general but tagged digital? I am also wondering when this starts occurring. The first year seemed more about just staying staffed. Although, it is obvious people talk ( which I guess has been a good thing for me so far).
