If you want to increase your odds of success in your next difficult conversation or negotiation, it’s always great to think about your word choice + talk tracks, but it’s just as important to think about managing your mindset and energy. Neuroscience research proves stamina matters! Everyone charges their own ‘battery’ differently, but there’s clear evidence that fatigue impacts negotiation ability. Do you take steps to prioritize charging your mental battery before a tough convo? 🪫

Friday thoughts - 20+ years ago, tech improved human productivity and made our lives better. We designed tech around human needs. Mail, and paper became Email and MSFT Word. Humans interacted with and up skilled each other, in-person, and used tech to help. Now, humans are asked to think and behave like tech to make the machines more efficient. We train AI and robotics on skills we used to teach each other. We exist to serve the machines and get laid off when they outperform us. Smart?

Anyone else feel like the commute alone is enough to drain your battery before the day even starts? The long drive. The traffic. The mental switch from home mode to work mode and then doing it all over again on the way back. By the time you walk through the door, you are already exhausted and wondering how something that is not technically “work” can cause so much burnout. How does your commute affect your mood, energy, or family time and what have you found that helps even a little?

Hi people! After almost 20years of graduating in Electrical Electronics Engineering and running away from it, I'm considering getting a job in the field for professionalism, stability and immigration. I'm looking at doing a training in PLC and SCADA or something that has to do with smart grids. Which quick crash courses/trainings would you recommend that can help one get a job fast enough. I may not mind entry level position and I'm looking to use the job offer to get TN visa to move to the US.

Is a $4,500 "discover your superpower" program worth it? 16 weeks, 8 group Zoom calls (90 min each) MIPS personality test + peer feedback Praised by billionaire Mohnish Pabrai, Andrew Wilkinson (Tiny), and other top execs Works out to $375/hour Seems like something I could DIY for way less? Anyone done programs like this—do they actually deliver or just good marketing? Need honest opinions before dropping this much.

Access to personal data continues to reshape everyday decisions. The idea of linking a smartwatch, phone, or fitness tracker to my health insurance company for a discount feels both innovative and intrusive. It could reward healthier habits, but also raises questions about privacy and fairness. I think it would also penalize me on days I don’t wear my watch. How much of a discount would you require to provide access to your devices?

When a company fires 25% of a group dedicated to people, it really makes you zoom all the way out and look at the state of the world. Is the goal of AI to make the dumb dumber and the smart smarter? Companies need divisions dedicated to the unique needs of humans but in a world where we care more about technology than the body that built it, is this the new normal?

I saw a post about a tech company (it may have been a bedding iOT company) that has beds in the office in quiet rooms and encourages their employees to take naps due to research that they’re more effective in their cognitive thinking. I take power naps and think it’s a great way to reset. Would you encourage this behavior in your imaginary company?
