Not cooking, but good eats. Picked up takeout after a long day on-site with a client. Soul food from a combined liquor store/takeout joint. Black owned, next to a gay nightclub, in a majority Arab/Muslim suburban area of a midwestern industrial city. Meatballs in gravy, mashed spuds, mac & cheese, and collard greens cooked with smoked turkey. Have had their meatloaf before. Yet to try smothered porkchops, catfish, chicken, BBQ, or other sides. Very, very good but far too much to eat.

Ugh I can’t believe I’m typing this. I’m pregnant and craving all kinds of food - udon, ramen, kimbap, Indian street food… I’m salivating watching all kinds of videos on YT. But I really can’t go anywhere cause I have a baby and I don’t care for takeout. I’m not able to stand cooking smells and don’t have the energy to make it myself. Add to that … my mom cooks for me but it’s all the food I don’t like rn - she can’t cook what I want. I just need a big bowl of food I want 😭

What’s the best thing you’ve bought in 2025 or 2026 so far? I bought a pressure cooker (I know, I know. Not what you were expecting). The thing is that I didn’t know I needed it so bad until I got it. Completely changed my cooking routine. Cuts cook time dramatically, makes meat fall-off-the-bone tender, and honestly makes eating at home so much easier and cheaper than going out. Hence, helping me save more money. What’s yours?

I WANT TO MOVE IN TO CONSERVATION! I went into cultivated meat as an attempt to work towards a more sustainable world. No I really want to honor my initial reaction to Attenborough's COP26 speech, and the obvious destruction to global ecosystems, and work in conservation. What training? Exposure? Internships? Voluntary work? Experience? Will help me get there. Thank you!

What's the best meal you've had in a production? I'm currently eating super dry tacos ( I didn't even know bad tacos existed), and feeling so reminiscent of this one time we had Caribbean food for lunch and the way it changed the entire crew's impetus to get to work after. Food really is super important for productions. I wish it was given more importance!

Unsure what bothers me more… the fact that my steaks are sliced thin… or the fact that out of a $302.00 grocery cost, this represents 18% of it… I’ll probably catch criticism from people saying “most Americans can’t buy $25.99/lb” steaks… My rebuttal: That’s your problem… muscle up, and find a way…

Someone brought in leftover food from their weekend, and I swear the whole break room turned into a cooking competition. I love free food but also... some dishes scare me a bit. Do you try everything at potlucks or stick to the safe-looking stuff?
