Transitioning from BI to Software Engineering and AI – Is it a wise move? I have 8 years in BI (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python, ETL). With AI, GenAI & Agentic AI rising fast, I’m concerned about BI’s future. Thinking about quitting consulting and switching to Software Engineering (FAANG goal) and eventually AI. Is this a smart move given my background? If not SWE, what other future-proof roles should I consider that would still leverage my BI expertise?

I need advice. I made a mistake last year and only recently discovered a CIFAS marker on my name after failing vetting checks for a dream job at a major UK lender. I’m worried this puts my career on hold for the next four years. Is there any way to challenge or remove it early? Also, do all banks and lenders run CIFAS checks, or are there some that don’t? I'm a BCom graduate interested in BI analysis. I'm not sure whether to work first or pursue a master’s right away. As a fresher, landing a BA role is tough. I’m proficient in Excel and Power BI with basic SQL knowledge, but I feel my profile isn’t strong enough yet.
