I recently interviewed someone applying for a technical role over video call. After some introduction, I started with some general questions and the candidate answered well - quite thorough, impressive in some ways. But after a couple of them, his answers started to feel a bit robotic. I suspected the candidate is using AI so asked some more detailed questions and the quality of the answers degraded significantly. Have others come across this? Is this easily achievable? Do people fall for this?

Can AI take away jobs? Yes. Can AI do things much faster? Yes. I started a project on my own. I am using AI, but I am not worried about AI taking this job for me. However, because I am using AI to generate things for me, It is doing the work of 7 people. And my reality is that I cannot afford to pay 7 people. AI cannot replace me because it does not have the intuition to please people or to showoff. My AI tools help me to create, aside from that, AI just sits there waiting for my commands.

AI has me so burned out. Just heard about someone framing an AI photo of their pet and I'm so over all of this. I went into software because I liked it. I love the art and the puzzles. I did not go into software because I'm trying to rise and grind or have any delusions about my ability to retire or own a home. If AI outcompetes me, I'll just wait tables or something, I'm not trying to die like John Henry did, nor am I sticking around if all that remain of my job is meetings and prompting.

Does anyone actually work in a role where the job is to push back on AI instead of constantly adopting it? For example, in customer support, people often react badly to chatbots or automated replies, especially when something goes wrong, because they just want to talk to a real person who can understand them. That human element still seems to matter a lot. I also get the sense that a lot of companies have invested so much in AI that they’re reluctant to admit where it doesn’t really work.

Anyone else completely burnt out with AI as you feel it may be more evil than good? I’m having a real internal struggle with it and I’m literally in charge of it at the moment. It’s making me want to do an about face and do something completely different. Opening a coffeeshop is my dream but being a single homeowner in Florida that will be difficult. Just really want out of the tech world. I want to make a difference in something that won’t be taken over by AI in the future.

***First time was NOT the Charm**** Has anyone interviewed with an AI Bot as of yet? I found it to be a bit strange. "It" responds and comments on your answers you like a human - but very weird if you ask me. Is that going to be the norm for the future? Not only are people going to worry about bots coming for the jobs- but now you may interview with one. Crazy to me.

Recently laid off from big tech firm and interviewing for roles. I have an interview coming up with a practical element using a mock up tool. 30 minutes off camera to deliver a solution or workflow on how to handle a scenario etc....question is, should or can we use AI within those tools or stick to manual at the risk of another candidate using AI and acing the practical?

For an adjunct teacher position, I had my first AI interview. It was creepy. I talked to blue pulsating ball on my screen (like HAL in 2001). It picked up on certain cues in my responses and asked follow up questions. I think that was my only indication I was saying some of the right things (hopefully). Has anyone had an AI interview? What was your experience?

Someone reached out about offering AI training model work, that’s flexible schedule and decent pay. Of course I had my hesitations but some of my creative friends say to take it, since it’s going to happen anyway or just don’t put my heart and soul into it. There aren’t a lot of details in the job description (posted by a staffing agency) but yeah, on the fence.

So tired of Ai....Just can not get over companies stating if you pass a,b,and c then we would like you to video your self answering the following questions and then we will review it.....Excuse me...I get your time is valuable...but so is ours... Boy of boy these people need to go back to basics... you know face to face interviews with a hand shake.
