What is your firm doing with junior/midlevel partners who were promoted during the Covid craze between 2020-2022 who probably have no business being partner? I know some are superstars, but there are quite a few I work with who have no business and aren’t superstar legal experts. For those who weren’t working back then/don’t remember, a lot of firms promoted good senior associates just so they wouldn’t leave during the crazy busy deal market:

I recently joined a new firm and while everyone’s technically nice, there’s a clear “in group” on every project. Jokes I don’t get, Slack threads I’m not tagged in, impromptu coffee chats I only hear about after the fact. It’s not toxic, but it’s definitely isolating. I’m trying not to force connections or be that person who pushes too hard to fit in, but I also don’t want to stay on the outside. How do you actually build real relationships across teams like this?

Anyone know Wise Wolves Group? They seem like obscure crypto bros and one of their recruiters just reached out to me because they're opening a US office. No clue what that brings but apparently they're looking for an accountant who's fluent in russian and english (hence that linkedin DM). But simultaneously, Cyprus and crypto bros means I'd like to make sure I don't end up on Laci Mosley's podcast.

Newish equity partner here (2012 Grad) and I have some advice for associates I wish someone would have told me ten years ago. DONT TRY TO PLEASE EVERYONE. It likely won't work and you will burn out. It is much easier and safer to pick a small group to please and forsake everyone else. This comes naturally to some but it was a struggle for me.

Recently noticed that Paul Weiss and Fried Frank are Band 1 for fund formation. Are they generally considered significantly better than Ropes, Clearly, etc. (Band 2 firms)? Also, other than STB, K&E and Debevoise (and FF/PW), which firms are considered very solid/great reputation for fund formation work?

Curious if anyone knows if biglaw groups are generally open to lateral partners from in-house positions with no book but presumably connections. Think niche areas like IP, environmental, etc. left biglaw as a well regarded senior associate and have been in-house about 6 years as the head of my specialty.

Does anyone have insight into Partners Group (culture, WLB, etc.)? Bonus points if it relates to the fund formation teams. I would be making the jump from big law so if the hours are just as bad I might as well stay put for the money.

Hey girls! I just moved from Europe and have my Gympass account from my hometown and apparently there is no studio available… i think it is because of being a European account. Do you have access to Solidcore, STL, Soulcycle, Barry’s…?

I have an offer to join the litigation group at Cadwalader, but I know a lot of partners have recently left. Is there anyone who can give me insight into the group? The market is rough out there …

Anyone else play Clash Royale? I can’t be the only one. It could be cool to have a clan of attorneys (or not 🤓). I was thinking of naming a clan “.1 Per Game” since games are 0-6 minutes long. Any interest? 🫣
