New to MBB post MBA and finding it incredibly stressful. Did ok review cycle wise but 8 months in and it is not “clicking”. Feeling extremely burnt out and wanting to exit at the 1 year mark. Would exit right now if it didn’t mean repaying bonus. Has anybody who felt this way at this point in the consulting journey actually found the job to “click” or get better eventually? Or is feeling this way a clear indication that if I’m already burnt out at this low-stakes level that MBB isn’t for me?

Does anyone else have a child (or maybe yourself) who has struggled to read & then one day it clicked? What did you find helped? For context, our 2nd grader still struggles with K level books. They have ADHD, dysgraphia, dyscalula, and a disability in reading but not dyslexia as they scored very high on the phonics assessment. They can read and decode single words but struggle with sentences. They’ve had an OG tutor and support in school but I’m wondering when reading will click. Thanks!

I’ve had multiple interviews where the panel spends more time talking to each other than engaging with me. They’ll whisper, joke, or debate among themselves while I’m sitting there wondering if I should jump in or just wait. It’s distracting and makes me feel invisible, like I’m not even the focus of the meeting. I try to stay professional, but inside I’m thinking, “Why am I here if you’re not paying attention?” How do you redirect the focus back to yourself without sounding rude or needy?

It should not take snaps, claps, music, phrases, and tunes to get students to pay attention. The attention span of these kids is a -0. “Please get out your books and turn to page 12” has now turned to Clap, once, clap twice. Level O, get ready set: open up your books to page 12 (repeat twice) because if you repeat once you’re only going to get about half the class ready. After that there’s still going to be 5 staring into space, with no book in sight. It’s exhausting. Am I alone in this?

I had a third interview for a job I really want, and a few days later, the manager emailed me saying we'll be in touch. It's been a week and a half since that email, and I'm wondering if I should send a follow up. The problem is, It's the same manager that conducted my second interview which I also sent a follow up to, so I'm not sure how to write a follow up that sounds different from the first one. Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I'd appreciate some input.

Is anyone else tired of hitting “1-click apply” on LinkedIn only to get redirected to the company’s website to fill everything out again? I don’t mind applying, but it’s frustrating when you upload your resume and their system completely botches half the fields, so you end up retyping everything. Feels like it defeats the whole point of “easy apply.” Curious if others are running into the same thing or if it’s just me.

One of the hardest things at work isn’t the workload, it’s dealing with people who operate entirely differently. It's not bad intentions. It's just a different speed, energy, or approach that constantly clashes with mine. I’m learning to adapt, but it still drains me. How do you collaborate with someone you don’t naturally click with, without constantly compromising your style?

For anyone frustrated with the LG TV’s “magic remote:” I figured out how to permanently disable that insanely annoying XP curser scroll wheel which auto activates… drop a dab of liquid crazy glue (not gel) between the scroll wheel and housing so the wheel won’t turn. It will still activate when you press the “home” button but it won’t happen otherwise when you use the “OK” button.

Should I have clicked send? My boss tried to make me feel bad today for not offering to do any Saturday shifts next month (which are optional). And called me out to the whole team on a email. I composed a reply to my boss explaining why I couldn't & that they are meant to be optional. I nearly clicked send but thought better of it. It would only poke the fire?

How many are tired of "1-click apply" just to get an email to go to the company site and fill out the application there? Just so when I upload my resume, it's loaded into their "application" and completely botched. NO. I go 6 other jobs I won't get interviewed at to apply for that won't completely screw up a simple task.
