Hello Fishes - Happy to share that I was able to hit my preliminary target of $250k in my 410k this week. Been a great learning following this group since 2019. With right suggestions, I was able to close student loans, max out 401k, maintain emergency fund, start Backdoor and mega backdoor ROTH, buy a home. Teaching these learnings to my kid as well. Doing all these in 6 -7 years makes me feel proud . Forever in debt to all those people who shed out good learnings for me.

      SR. Full Stack .NET Developer

9 years ago, I wrote my first C# “Hello World.” Fast forward to today: I’ve built APIs, fixed 1000+ bugs (and caused 999 😅), survived production deploys on Fridays, and learned that Stack Overflow is basically family. Now… I’m open to work looking for my next adventure as a .NET Developer who still gets excited when code runs on the first try (rare, but magical 🪄). If your team needs someone who writes clean code, loves bad debugging jokes, and ships features with a smile. let’s connect!

I bought a house. Modest. 3 br. 1600 sq ft. I love it though. It was $518k and is in the semi ghetto. Similar homes in a nice part of town would be $800k+. But we've been here a year and I realize a $4000 mortgage is hard. We take home $10-11k/month and am only investing $600/mo. I'm not going to fire with these expenses. But can I thrive? I don't want to go back to a condo bc I got chickens and dogs. Am I an idiot? Or are we all accepting houses cost a ton now?

I have 0 motivation. 6/2022 - 7/2023 I was compared to a coworker 13+ times, told I was first on the chopping block for layoff 2 and never given any work even after begging 4/7 people on the team (still have teams messages) 9/2023 - 2/2025 two quit (one got a new job, other became a mom), I was given real work and constant praise. Told I’m a core member, never got replacements for those two and did their work. Told I had a phenomenal year. 3/2026 1% raise. What do I do?

Hey everyone, I remember a few posts here about managing task paralysis during the work week. A neurodivergent friend of mine recently built an app called StartSmall:Beat Overwhelm. It is designed for those moments when you know what you need to do but just cannot start, and it gives you one tiny next step to get unstuck. It’s an interesting concept for a productivity app. Thought I would share in case it is helpful to anyone here.

I have attended multiple interviews for .NET / ASP.NET Core roles but have not received an offer yet. I have successfully cleared several first-round interviews; however, in the second round, even answering two questions wrong seems to lead to rejection. With 5 years of experience in .NET, I would appreciate any advice from you. What strategies, preparation techniques, or areas of focus would you recommend to help crack these interviews?

NW - 3M HHI - 500K Home Equity - 500K (home price @750k) I’m planning to upgrade to a home valued around $1.4M. My inclination is to make the largest possible down payment to minimize the mortgage; potentially even purchasing the home outright. I have two questions: 1. Is a $1.4M home too much relative to my overall financial position? 2. Would you liquidate a significant portion of your investments to live debt-free?
