      Job Hunting in Tech

      Consultant
      2mo

Anyone looking for exit opportunities to a non-tech field? I am so burnt out I am done with the corporate AI hellscape my job has become. I am looking at a farm co-op based on Italian models, where farmers pool capital and own the entire value chain. Small specialty dairy or meat farms where output is processed in co-op facility, sold DTC or wholesale. This means no middleman squeezing them and higher margins for farmers. Can still have same corporate style benefits like insurance, PTO, etc..

A lot of the strategic direction we get is just the CEO sending us tweets and LinkedIn articles and asking if we should be doing this or why aren’t we doing that, etc. Also we constantly have huge potential projects pending or that we need to investigate, but they always fizzle out after we’ve put in a bunch of work: “buy this business” or “create this vertical” or “change our whole manufacturing and international supply chain.” So sick of the hours of calls about nothing, and wasted prep work

I'm proud to work for an organization that is truly mission-driven and focused on impact. One area I believe we could improve is fostering a culture of intellectual openness and trust. While we are encouraged to think critically and engage complex issues, certain news sites - such as Fox News - are intentionally blocked on our work network even though all other sites are available (MSNBC, CNN, etc). This creates an environment of censorship and limits our ability to have diverse perspectives.

I’m an elevator mechanic transitioning into infrastructure and product security engineering. Over the past decade I’ve worked in safety critical, regulated environments and recently built and operated secure cloud and zero trust systems using VPS infrastructure, WireGuard, hardware backed MFA, and applied cryptography. For engineers who’ve made a similar transition from industrial or field systems into infrastructure or security roles, what helped most during hiring and interviews?

Ten years in, and I’ve yet to meet a system I couldn’t stabilize or a tech stack I couldn’t tame. I’ve built CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, modernized shipping and e-commerce with RESTful APIs, and led cross-platform work uniting desktop, mobile, and cloud on scalable .NET architectures. I’m looking for a team that’s forward-thinking, fast-moving, and ready to build boldly. I bring clear execution and architectural vision from greenfield builds to legacy overhauls.

I work with a small hospital network serving several rural communities in the Northeast, and recruiting experienced ICU nurses has become increasingly difficult. Larger city hospitals nearby tend to attract most of the applicants, even when relocation assistance is offered. We’re trying to rethink how we position rural roles to candidates earlier in their careers. Recruiters who have successfully filled rural critical care roles—what strategies actually worked?

Hi everyone, I’m currently between roles and reflecting on where IT is headed. One question: which areas are most resilient to AI disruption? My take: networking may be one of the last domains fully handed to AI due to real-time troubleshooting and infrastructure complexity. Should IT professionals be concerned? I don’t think so—adaptation is key. Curious to hear your thoughts.

which companies in big tech or other industries still have a decent or semi decent culture? From what I hear, even the good big tech cultures have been destroyed over the past year or two with layoffs, RTO and other mantras around "high performance" and "productivity" which are used as an excuse to multiply workload, promote internal competition among peers & individualism while reducing benefits
