      Career Advice for Students

works at University of Central Florida
      10mo

I recently moved to the DFW area as a single mom. My background is in healthcare. I’ve applied to UTSW, BSWH, and Texas Health since those were the names that kept coming up during my research. I have interviews lined up with all 3, which I’m grateful for. I would love to hear from people who have experience with these organizations. What are the real pros and cons? Culture, management, work life balance whatever stands out to you. I know I will explore more as I get acclimated to the area.

Since starting with the Operations Department at Digital Realty 3 months ago, I have been highly impressed with the culture and level of professionalism here. In the rapidly expanding data center industry, I have found a wide range of management and safety culture along with the general vibe of the teams. It has been a huge sigh of relief for me to find a company where I can trust that my efforts are appreciated and recognized, and a management culture that promotes a positive work culture!

Where are the digital pipeline jobs? Been in the digital pipeline since 2012 and worked steadily till the end of last year when i got laid off. Seems like jobs in the fulfillment end of encoding houses are going away to automation. Not much out there, but when I see things pop up that I am qualified for (even at times overqualified), submit applications/resumes and nothing happens. It's been a long time since I've been in the job market. And it's scary quiet out there.

      Salary Negotiations

      Assistantadministrator
      9mo

I have worked for my company for 15 years, and all I asked for was reduced hours to return to school. Apparently, as far as they are concerned, there is no part-time, so now I am pointing out that I am doing work outside my current job description, and I deserve to be compensated as their EDI expert for my account, which is in the top 200 of the Fortune 500. What is a realistic salary for an EDI expert in DFW? A quick Google search indicates 90K in DFW.

      Job Hunting in Tech

      IT Support Engineer
      10mo

Hi Folks, I am a newbie in industry life. Though I worked as an IT Engineer almost 2 years now including my 1-year OJT which is a bit drastic (which I think, experience-wise, is an advantage for me) - same company until now. I'm trying to see opportunities on other organizations. Is it possible to acquire WFH positions based on the few months of experience I have? Also, do you have any recommendation for a career shift?

      Mechanical Engineer

Moving my family and myself from Southern California to the DFW area to get away from the crowds and high costs is looking like a good idea. I can sell my place here and pay cash for a house there, but want to make sure the job market is solid first. I’ve been stuck in a dead-end mechanical engineering role for two years with no raises. Is the Dallas area good for engineering jobs?

We are a boutique med spa in the DFW area and are growing our team. Curious, does this site support job posting or recruiting resources to add medical professionals and licensed medical estheticians? We have been using Indeed and learned there is some synergy between the sites but not sure in what capacity for employers. Any help or direction here would be appreciated.

Hi all! I am currently working a front desk position but will need another source of income. I am a mother to a 7mo and I enrolled in school for August that I am coming out of pocket for amongst my other financial obligations. Does anyone know any WFH positions available, preferably ones without having to call due to my son screaming often lol.

      Software Development Engineer SDE
      9mo

Joined as a DevOps Automation Engineer, but the actual work is not in scope. They mentioned WFO after 2 months, but it's been 4+ months and still fully WFH. Also working >9 hrs with less salary/ benefits. It's been less than 6 months - is it okay to switch now? What's the best way to explain this in interviews?
