      Parents at Work

Parents who have older kids, how did you manage to find energy post work to actually engage with your child? I switch off work between 5 to 7 PM, prep dinner over weekend, and don't pick up work till after bedtime. It's always a race to finish the last call before the kid comes home from daycare, but the challenge is I am already so drained, then dinner, play time, bath, bed time (half the time I fall asleep in his room) and then pick up work because nothing ever gets done during the day*

I’ve been thinking a lot about the renewable energy sector, particularly solar farms and installers, and I’m curious about everyone’s perspective. With government funding cuts, do you think it’s still a good time to pursue a startup in this industry? My sense is that the growing energy demands from AI and other emerging technologies could create significant opportunities despite the policy shifts.

This year I want to transition out of consulting and into Energy, Power and Utilities industry. I’ve got 6 years experience in Strategy, PM, Change, and E2E implementation. Any advice on how I can make this transition?? Im currently trying to leverage my network to get me referred into some DMV based Energy corporations but any advice or feedback on this would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏽

Is this the right time to invest in the energy industry? A lot is happening right now—oil price fluctuations, rapid growth in renewables, global tensions, and changing government policies. These shifts are creating both risks and opportunities. Do you think this is a good time for customers to consider energy investments? Which segment looks more promising to you today?

I’m getting an opportunity to interview for an L5 role in their energy operations team in either Seattle or Houston. I have currently 4+ years of experience related to the role under my belt but total of 8+ years working altogether. What should I be targeting as base salar or total comp I should aim for in either the locations?

For some reason, I’m having an odd burst of positive word energy heading into next year. There’s so much opportunity in my role. I’ve been working on my annual review and I think I accomplished a lot, but there’s so much room especially if I get this promotion I’m angling for. Does anyone else have that same spark?

Hi Everyone, Other than MBB and the Big 4, are there reputable Energy consulting firms based out of Toronto that hire MBAs? I have done my MBA from INSEAD and undergrad from McMaster U and have 10 years of engineering consulting and energy program management experience. Any help/guidance is appreciated.
