Networking isn't just about LinkedIn, it's about gaining actionable intel. Last year, a former colleague told me their company had a $180k base for a role similar to mine; $40k above my cap. That info gave me the leverage to demand a market rate adjustment during my review, and I got it. Your network is a realtime map of what you're actually worth. Stop just connecting and start trading data with people you trust. Who in your circle is brave enough to talk real numbers with you?

Well this really hit me. Some of the people let go had been there since the ‘90s... decades of work gone overnight because the network decided to shift resources. It feels like another sign that legacy entertainment news is shrinking while companies chase social-first platforms. If long-running shows with loyal crews aren’t safe, what does that say about stability in this industry moving forward? Are we looking at a future with fewer traditional jobs and more short-term digital gigs?

I have been reading about how technology is reshaping patient care in healthcare? Innovations like telemedicine and AI are making it easier to connect with doctors from home, avoiding long waits! But with these advancements come challenges, like maintaining patient privacy and addressing the digital divide. Not everyone has equal access to technology, creating disparities in care. What do you think about balancing new tech with personalized patient interactions?

I keep hearing that networking is essential for career growth, but half the time it just feels like a circle of people trying to out-sell each other. I’m not shy. I’ll show up, I’ll talk, but I’m also not interested in pretending I’m so passionate about synergies just to hand out my resume. I want real conversations, not LinkedIn theater. Is there actually a way to network without feeling like I’m performing the entire time?

Networking has changed drastically in our online world. It seems like networking is don’t almost exclusively online these days. Does anyone still network F2F? Have you been to any professional networking events? I’m learning how to build a network so I would love to hear your thoughts. How do you go about building your professional network? What are your favorite apps, events, or strategies to use?

So I decided to quit social media for a month, even though my job depends on it, and instead went on the internet for 15-20 minutes just to get brand inspo, and to keep myself updated in the best way possible. Actually looking for exactly this gave me wayyy better insights than hours of algorithm-led rabbit holes I've been in for the past few years. Has any shift like this changed the game for you?

I’m starting to feel major burn out from job hunting. At first, it was my resume so I did some research and made noticeable tweaks. Hit rate has increased and now I’m working on success narratives. But I really think I could benefit from networking. What’s really the game changer to shift from applying the “normal way” vs getting a referral? Would love to hear from you all! thanks 😊

Went through 4 rounds of interviews, and received a call from the recruiter saying the hiring manager wants to connect one more time as a “refresher”. She mentioned they’re between me and another candidate, and also mentioned the call with the hiring manager would be casual. What does this really mean, and what do I need to prepare?
