It’s already demotivating to work with verbally abusive partners, but I feel like it’s almost worse when the “nice” partners don’t call out the behavior. Partner 1 demanded a draft within a v short timeline. Partner 2 shared his thoughts that it was an unnecessary fire drill with me. I sent the draft within the timeline (admittedly not my best work). Partner 2 made a few revisions and sent it to client. Partner 1 then emailed me and Partner 2 saying that the draft looks AI-generated (it wasn’t),

A draft executive order (EO) shows federal smackdown on state-level AI laws, aiming to replace 50 different playbooks with one national rulebook. The order would create a new "AI Litigation Task Force" led by Attorney General Pam Bondi to sue states over their AI regulations, arguing they overstep on interstate commerce or conflict with federal rules. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0YRQSgHp3K2S7qzmh7ZffEk4P8NVXocQY3ckkb265sJWA1mKvara15yCtLhmSZ2Mel&id=100064597815968&mibextid=wwXIfr Newco Amazon Google Microsoft @

I’m currently a civil design engineer I moved from my home state to another state for this job and it’s been difficult being far from home. But i recently got offered a CAD drafter position in my home state. I’m not sure whether to take this new position. I’ve only been at this design position 3 months but these months have been mentally hard. I miss my family everyday! The roles aren’t necessarily similar but as a drafter I would be getting paid more. My goal is to do design but at what cost 😢

It’s happened to me where I wasn’t fully deferential in my response to a partner where this cost me a bad review. Eg partner asking me as a junior why I haven’t sent out their draft out to opposing counsel asap but I had noticed some issues with the draft aka inconsistent usage of defined terms, bad section references that made me take a longer look. Another eg; as a senior, partner is holding a key deliverable that client is pinging me on, by nitpicking a cover email to a client I ran by him.

I have an interview for a job that I had been looking forward to for a while. They want me to produce a writing sample which I thought no biggie, I ask what they are looking forward and they tell me a brief 4-8 page writing sample that reflects my legal drafting abilities like a redacted answer, except of a motion, etc. I’ve never done those as I’ve done admin law. I can provide what I do now (notices of violations, settlement agreements, etc) or should I do a mockup. If so, where do I begin?

I have recently been working with a terrible new mid/senior and could use any advice. This person doesn’t know the most basic things (e.g., who has to sign a PA). They expect me (a junior) to draft every single doc, and the only comments they ever have are things like commas. They also will sit on docs they need to “review” for days while our client chases. I have been copying in the person directly above them on everything to C[my]A but would love to know what others would do.

Mid-level working with a 3Y that seems to require way too much hand-holding. E.g., partners say we need a memo with analysis of chances of success on a motion. I ask Jr to start an outline and then set a call to discuss drafting later in the week. Immediately, Jr asks how to structure, what points to make, where to find examples, etc. I appreciate asking questions to get it right, but pls try to give it some thought before essentially asking me to do the outline for you. Am I crazy?

      Insurance

      Underwriting Manager

I accepted a job drafting forms at a new company after 24 years in underwriting with the same carrier, 8 mos. ago. I have not been given the support to be successful in this role and have no experience with these products. There have been mass layoffs and firings, and my boss is extremely toxic. I am looking for another job but would like to connect with a mentor so that I can improve my current situation and get advice on policy drafting. Can anyone suggest resources or someone that can help?
