Google has removed over 50 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)-focused organizations from its funding list, part of a broader cut of 214 groups, following pressure from POTUS-era anti-DEI policies. Many of the removed groups focused on race, gender equity, activism, and support for marginalized communities. What’s going to happen when a new administration comes into play? https://www.linkedin.com/posts/black-enterprise_google-has-removed-over-50-diversity-equity-activity-7359569284177555456--OE_?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios&rcm=ACoAAACGcC8BqyLOVLFp546iecRiWinznOkvt_0 Amazon Google Microsoft Newco

Had my first group interview on Zoom last Friday. What a strange and awkward experience. There were 10 of us and 1 person doing the interviews. It was traumatizing for some. Many people don't have experience interviewing, much less a group interview on camera. It's got to be the worst way to hire people that I can imagine. One guy couldn't do it and turned his camera off mid-sentence. Has anyone else been through an uncomfortable group interview? I will never partake again. Total waste of time.

Am I going to be worked to the bone if I join a group where I’d be the only associate supporting partners and counsels? It’s a subgroup of a corporate practice that focuses on a specialized area with great exit options and operates as a support group for other transactional and/or lit groups (like tax or IP). It’s a newly created position meaning there aren’t any previous associates that I can ask about their experience. I really like type of work the team does but worried about being miserable.

Working with Exact Benefits Group has truly been a great experience for me. I absolutely love the flexibility of working from home . What makes it even better is the leadership. My managers are incredibly supportive, professional, and always willing to help me grow. The support team is also amazing, they are responsive, knowledgeable, and make my job so much easier every day. I’m really grateful to be part of such a positive and encouraging work environment!

If you are currently facing financial hardship and could benefit from this opportunity, please respond to this message indicating your interest and briefly describing your situation. Please note that providing this information does not guarantee selection, but it will help me assess the overall need and tailor the application accordingly. I will then select 20 individuals from the group to be part of this

If a small specialized lit group gets poached by another firm, is it bad to join their group at the already-established firm they went to? They are building it out at the established firm and looking for associates at other firms for now, but not sure if folks have experience with that. Seems like a good way to pivot into a specialty, but worry about the risk too.

Has anyone been iced out after declining to switch practice groups? I’m a fifth year associate in finance, but most of my work has been from M&A since my group has really slowed down. The partners I work with asked me to officially move over. It isn’t a good time for me for a number of reasons, but since sharing that it seems like I’ve been iced out entirely.

Newish equity partner here (2012 Grad) and I have some advice for associates I wish someone would have told me ten years ago. DONT TRY TO PLEASE EVERYONE. It likely won't work and you will burn out. It is much easier and safer to pick a small group to please and forsake everyone else. This comes naturally to some but it was a struggle for me.

What are your thoughts about group interviews? I'm not a fan at all but for the last quarter, management has been pushing group interviews and I'm not sure what they think the benefit is. I just think that no candidate is feeling seen or heard, and also that it reduces our chances at really gauging their potential.... How do other's feel about them?

How can leaders create an inclusive environment that respects and leverages the unique backgrounds of each multinational team member? They are more like a stranger to me eventhough we talk once a week since last year. Most of the time I used email and teams but rarely having 1-on-1 session with him since we both are busy with daily task.
