I have revised my resume 14 times and had it done professionally (which was paid for every time) and yet out of maybe 130 applications I’ve put In for jobs I KNOW I’m qualified for with proven references and work history, I am denied for every single last one. Even on this platform. At this point I think it’s because I’m BLACK! It don’t make sense. How am I denied for subway AND McDonald’s??????

So I have been a software engineer here for 5 years. We decided to upgrade our LIMS system to a new LIMS, which I built, with my team, over two years time. It's working wonderfully. Meantime new mgmt arrived. They want to implement a different LIMS and I will not be coding it. In fact, while they are promoting me and promising to keep me on no matter what, they can't really tell me exactly what I'll be doing. Pay is very good btw. I just feel betrayed. Should I be looking around?

Hi, I gotta get something off my chest. The other day I went to an interview with a major multinational that has been operation for quite some time in our country. But when we talked about salary I asked for what internationally is conform. Yet they rejected my expectations and offered way lower. And advised me yes they pay locally conform not internationally conform. Of course I reject because since it would’t be a learning exp. since it is something I already do for the same amount of money.

Did I screw myself over? Job posting said 95-120k. Spoke to HR about flexibility in range and she asked what am I looking for. I said 130-135k because I didnt think they would meet 145-150k that I am currently at. I know I should have said that but in the moment it threw me off. I guess because I am still awaiting an offer I wanted to play it safe. They agreed the 130-135k would be something they could do. Could I rebound this mishap during the offer stage (if there’s one?)

      Salary Negotiations

I had an interview today via Zoom and at the end was asked what is my salary requirement. I then asked what was the range for the position. I could tell she wasn’t expecting the question so she took a few minutes to pull up the position. She then said it’s x - xx and we think with your experience it’s more along xx and would that be acceptable. I responded yes. This was my first time asking and will be my go to if the position doesn’t have a range. I’m proud of myself.

Line that stood out to me in this was “when someone submits a resume today, they have the abysmally low 0.4% chance of actually getting the job.” “Applying to a job in 2025 really is the statistical equivalent of hurling your resume into a black hole.” You can say that again! https://www.businessinsider.com/technology-broke-job-market-ats-recruiters-hiring-application-2025-11#:~:text=That%20means%20that%20when%20someone,resume%20into%20a%20black%20hole.

I got rejected today in the second round for not giving enough metrics about an organization I'm building. The interviewer said I answered his questions perfectly with exception of the last one, the one with less metrics than he was expecting. I'm simply not sharing confidential info. In retrospect, I could've thrown out some junk numbers and probably moved to the next round, but stupidly, I didn't. Kicking myself.

A partner scheduled a “quick 15-minute check-in” today that somehow lasted an hour and a half. It happens every time. My whole afternoon derails because their definition of quick is whatever suits them in the moment. I feel guilty setting boundaries with someone who controls my workload, but I’m drowning in calendar creep. How do you enforce time limits without looking ungrateful or inflexible?

I had a strange EA interview at XXX company. Instead of the usual “Tell me about yourself,” the temp EA—who had only been there 2 weeks—opened with, “Have you ever failed at your job?” I replied, “I supported multiple VPs at a world-renowned company. My accuracy and professionalism earned their trust—that’s why I stayed over 10 years.” It felt odd, but I remained confident and professional.

I would really appreciate some advice with an issue I currently have. Basically, I want to progress from accounts assistant to be an accountant, or basically just any step up up tbh. However, my current work just do not have the capacity to allow me to study etc. I know the right answer would be to leave, but I also have a side hustle and my work is extremely flexible and it just works so well with it.
