I applied for a job today, and on the questionnaire that no one looks at, they asked a question that baffled me. Well, the request rather, was to write down something that makes me unique. They said make sure to write something that catches their eye (not exaggerating) . I was wondering if they were serious. My thing is... aren't we all unique in our own ways. What could I say that no one else said so far? Its starting to feel like a game thats sometimes and unpredictable in the worst ways.

You ever have good things happen to you all at once and then suddenly a few bad things happen not to long after? Had a good day yesterday and today got a great call from my mom about my kids Christmas and my dad brought me a kitchen table then I go to get me and my son hair done and our stylist is nowhere to be found(praying she’s ok) so now I have to drive 30 minutes back home and 15 minutes away my car overheats so now we’re sitting waiting on my dad. And I don’t have funds to get it fixed

I see some people drop everything and go on vacations, or not worry about what is on their plate. I play by the book and there seems to be endless responsibilities that don't have an easy button. I should be thankful for many blessings in my life. Some days it is harder to remember that. Balancing work, family, health, taking care of parents, repairs, social obligations, it all is too much. I am not asking for anything. Just a reminder to breath if anyone is in the same situation.

For the past couple of years, I always put my mind onto my job. Three years ago, after I had my child, my child came first. A couple of years later, my family and I went through a lot where it got to the point where in my life, I’ll always choose my my family and child first before anything else. A job can be replaced, but family can’t. If I have to choose between my family/child or job, I will always choose my family and child. What do you guys think?

Last week I rushed into a meeting still holding my grocery bag because traffic ate up all my prep time. Of course, that’s when my boss asked me to “share something insightful.” My mind went blank, so I blurted out, “Always double-bag your milk.” Everyone laughed, but now I’m forever the “grocery philosopher.” Funny thing is, people keep asking me for life hacks. Have you ever said something random that somehow stuck with everyone?

I was told in my review that I should try to be “more like” a coworker who’s famous for never saying no to extra work. This is someone who picks up every shift, covers for anyone who asks, and basically lives at the hospital. Management clearly loves it. I’m proud of doing my job well, but I also value having boundaries and a life outside of work. Is saying yes to everything really the standard now?

Can we all please stop expecting that every person should have the same skillset and sensibilities across a certain level? We are humans NOT machines. We each have our own unique abilities and we can each shine in our own way if those are embraced, nurtured and mentored well. Coaching is underrated. Leaders are too self centered. This culture is toxic .

So, here we all are at Christmas Eve. How many of us will be with family and how many of us will be working? I will be doing alittle of both. I will be with church family today for a few hours then come back home to work. Then tomorrow I will repeat but with family for a few hours and go home to work alittle bit and then fall asleep in that order.

I had an interview today where the CEO mentioned we’re like a family here at least five times in thirty minutes. Usually, in my experience, that’s just code for we expect you to work 70 hours a week and not complain about it. I want a paycheck and a professional environment, not a second set of parents. Is the family comment an automatic no for you guys?

Do you use all of your PTO every year? I’ve struggled to be consistent with this and frequently find myself with time left over. While it carries over, I want to be more mindful of taking all the time I have. Do you take all your time every year or leave some just in case?
