Parents who have older kids, how did you manage to find energy post work to actually engage with your child? I switch off work between 5 to 7 PM, prep dinner over weekend, and don't pick up work till after bedtime. It's always a race to finish the last call before the kid comes home from daycare, but the challenge is I am already so drained, then dinner, play time, bath, bed time (half the time I fall asleep in his room) and then pick up work because nothing ever gets done during the day*

Having worked as a hardware engineer among many teams within 5 companies, I have found a jewel of an eco system within this company, Sentient Energy. The people here, from management down, are focused on the customers, family and our personal health. Getting up in the morning is easy when you really enjoy what you are doing, and who your comrades are. Quality products and innovative solutions best defines what we do and who we are. We're growing and I'm happy to be on this journey.

It has been quiet here this week, to break the ice... what dollar method do you use for your excel model? Anchored dollars would mean you adjust back to a certain date using actual inflation since then, current dollars would require no inflation adjustment to balance but rather reduce expected future return by expected inflation, and for future you don't reduce expected return by inflation so you'd end up with a much larger ending number (but expenses would be much higher future dollars).

I feel like I'm handling the stress at work okay. I'm able to hide how burnt out and exhausted I am, and push through while maintaining a professional face the entire time. So, work is okay. But at home, I just don't have the energy to keep up the act. I'm snippy with my husband and kids, and the lack of energy keeps me from enjoying family time. I don't want my family to suffer because of me. What should I do?

I didn’t realize how much energy it takes to stay positive in conversations, especially after a few setbacks. When I was laid off on Halloween 2024 this happens a lot. You still have to show up engaged, interested, and confident every time. That part takes effort. How do you reset your energy before the next conversation? How much of your energy does your job take from you. Ironically I find that sometimes the days I am at the desk all day are more exhausting than days I am doing physical work. But then some days the work is so physical l wish I was at my desk. Is your job exhausting, physical, or just mentally draining? How tired does your work make you?

After a difficult day at the office, how do you motivate yourself for the next morning? Sometimes one bad meeting, stress, or misunderstanding affects the whole mood, but the next day still needs fresh energy. Do you disconnect, talk to someone, exercise, or simply reset your mindset? What really helps you come back stronger and stay positive?

Lately, I've been thinking about the amount of pressure there is to always be productive. Last week, I spent every free moment to catch up or get ahead in my work, but I ended up feeling more tired than accomplished. I noticed that when I actually took a real break, I felt so much less drained afterward! How do you find the productivity balance?

Adjusting to a full time schedule has been harder than I expected. The routine is steady, but by the evening my energy is pretty low, even on normal days. I’m still figuring out how people manage to have a life outside of work during the week. How do you keep your energy up and still make time for things after work?

I don’t mind a little healthy competition, but in my job, it sometimes feels like everyone’s quietly trying to outshine each other instead of actually collaborating. I’ve been trying to figure out when that kind of energy pushes me and when it just burns me out. How do you deal with competitive energy at work?
