      Jobs in Finance

Fully licensed Financial Planner that provides education (no sales) on a wide variety of financial planning topics including retirement, investments, budgeting, estate planning, college funding, taxes, and more. All this sounds sexy, until you find out that you do this all in a call center with 6 clients per day. Burn out is real, growth is non-existent, and salary is bad. I started at $65k and got a 3% raise within a year to $67k. Bonus stayed at $5000. Pay raises only occur if GS performs.

Alright, question for the financially savey consultants out there. My friend has a small business and has been accumulating cash in a money market account (50k+ at this point). He wants to start investing and spoke to a financial advisor who would charge 1.4% each year. This seemed high to me. I mentioned just dollar costing into ETFs (.... which probably made little sense). Anybody here have a good resource for succinctly explaining concepts/ helping him make these choices?

Company I applied for is asking for certain FP&A skills, such as creating dashboards, KPIs, pricing/margin analysis, scenario analysis, financial modeling and scenario analysis? I’ve taken a financial modeling course to create dynamic models, DCF, 3 statement models. Has anyone had to increase their FP&A skills for a acctg managerial role and how did you improve your skills? I’m considering Wall Street prep or CFI but that looks more like DCF, LBO type modeling and I don’t think that applies?

It has been quiet here this week, to break the ice... what dollar method do you use for your excel model? Anchored dollars would mean you adjust back to a certain date using actual inflation since then, current dollars would require no inflation adjustment to balance but rather reduce expected future return by expected inflation, and for future you don't reduce expected return by inflation so you'd end up with a much larger ending number (but expenses would be much higher future dollars).

Hi all, prepping for a final round at Capital One for a Manager, Product Management role. I was told there are two consulting style case interviews. For anyone who has been through it: • What types of cases did you get (product strategy, analytics, profitability, experimentation, etc.)? • How technical versus business focused were they? • Any prep resources that were actually helpful? Would really appreciate any insight. Thank you in advance!

      Financial Planning and Analysis

I have worked in Financial Planning and Analysis for a couple of years in expense management. I have loved what I do at work but now I am looking for my next big move. I'm seeking for some advice on which roles in Finance can be high paying opportunities. I am seeking for roles which have client interaction as well as dealing with data. What would be your suggestion? Also, what certification will be required which can help me with this transition?
