I was scheduled for an interview tomorrow at 9am, the FlexNgate rep called me at 9am this morning and asked me oh sorry, "one final question". that question was, do you pick up kids from school every day? My answer, well yes I do and I am only out of the office for a short time, I return to the office after and work late to make up for the brief time I am out of the office. I always work through lunch also. FlexNgate abruptly cancelled the int, not a family friendly company I see!

Recently left PwC to go to a different firm. New firm marketed itself as super flexible, very remote friendly, WLB, etc. I actually had quite a few fully remote opps but I liked this one. I could go in to an office when I wanted or if I set up client meetings in person, etc. I was VERY vocal about seeking flexibility & remote friendly & wanted to be hybrid as needed with a BIG focus on flexibility to come in and out as I needed & WFH as much as I wanted. Accepted offer..*cue bait & switch😭

Thinking about trying Flexcar and curious if anyone here has experience with it. It’s definitely more costly than a traditional lease, but it’s month-to-month, no interest, and insurance is included, which seems super convenient. The main downside I see is the low mileage cap, but since I live in NYC I don’t actually drive that much (yes I still need a car…:)) Has anyone here used Flexcar? Do you think the flexibility is worth the higher price compared to leasing or other alternatives?

Just graduated, took the bar last week and start at a firm paying market in October. I’m trying to figure out how to squeeze value from the grace period or whether I should refinance my federal loans. Refinancing: Federal loans are at 7.8% but SoFi is offering 5.56 APR on a 5 yr plan and 5.76 APR on a 7 yr plan for all of my loans. May be able to get a better offer by reapplying before the grace period ends in November but after I have paid some of the principal off. Any advice?

Hi! I have a situation and was wondering if anyone had experienced this in their career. My current job on a random Friday decided to switch me from exempt to Flex "because we don’t have any active projects". My project manager know that everyone knows that yet I am the only one that had this change towards them. I strongly believe that they are misclassifying me to avoid paying me because if i am not billing a project then it’s overhead. Would like to hear your thoughts or suggestions on this!

Happy manic Monday HR friends! Today, I started a new position as an HR/Recruiting Partner (never had a title like this either - it's exciting!) at a 2 year old mortgage company out of Michigan with lenders nationwide. I'm very experienced in manufacturing recruiting, C Suite and all sorts in between... however not lender recruiting experience. So! Asking for any advice that anyone may have or useful platforms for trends? Experience they'd like to share, a hurdle that was overcome.

Option 1 - stay at current individual contributor role for several years, easy and essentially remote with maybe 1-2 days a month in office that is 20 min away. 250 base, 50% bonus, 75k RSUs. Option 2 - take offer for 310 base, 45% bonus, 90k RSUs. Managing small team, more responsibility, 2 days in office that is almost 2 hour commute one way (train and subway). Unclear if flex on office requirement but assume for role will need to show up.

In terms of flexibility; when a company states the hours are flexible, how do you define flexible? Is it for your benefit or theirs? How I define flexibility, is on my terms and not theirs (which honestly, is laughable) however, In all reality when a company hires and states the position is flexible, it is ONLY flexible for them. Should they be clear with their terminology of “Flexible” or is it already clear enough?

My job just approved my for Flex Time! I feel lucky to still be remote and work a flexible schedule so I can spend 4 hours with my 1 year old in the middle of the day. I understand I am fortunate to have this opportunity since many others no longer have this option. Curious what other perks people have in this environment now that it’s not employer friendly anymore?

One of my coworkers is using flex time to come in early, stay late, just so they have Fridays off. It's unfair to the rest of the group. We are supposed to work 5 days a week, so now we are left with covering their work on Fridays. Is there anything I can do or say?
