I find that I’m a person that’s driven by growth both in skillet and monetarily. In the past few years it’s led to me job hopping a bit. Those of you who are all about growth, are you ever happy in your role and comp level? How does a person settle down and not jump for the next best shiny role? I really struggle with this after being loyal to a firm for 10 years then jumping 3 times after, never finding a spot I enjoyed as much as the first.

There’s a growing demand for STEM jobs, yet so many capable people still feel like they don’t “fit” in that world. The truth is, STEM needs diverse thinkers, late bloomers, and those willing to learn at their own pace. It’s not just about being brilliant—it’s about being consistent and open to growth. Everyone’s entry point looks different, and that’s perfectly valid. Do you see yourself in a STEM role someday, or does something still hold you back?

Hey! I left a toxic job for a healthier environment, but after ~5 months, I’m underutilized. My last role was dynamic; here I get only a few small tasks a day. I see an opportunity that aligns better with my skills and long-term career growth, where I could truly contribute. Is it too soon to apply? How do you navigate a move this early if it feels like the right fit?

A photo of a stunning, hyper-realistic green apple-shaped dessert covered in a brilliant mirror glaze. The glossy pastry, complete with a stem and leaf, is delicately held in an open palm, showcasing the artistry of modern patisserie. How important is it to have a hobby or routine? I do quilling and gardening, and I find the focus of quilling art calms and de-stressing. Many people like gardening as a hobby, but to me I love the invigorating release of digging a hole, planting, and harvesting. Of course dodging bees and yellow jacket gets my heartache up😑! I have found both things help me after a long day of teaching and side-gigging.

I have started to notice how passion is sometimes treated like a discount employers expect people to accept. Roles labeled meaningful or creative often come with lower pay because fulfillment is assumed to be part of the compensation. Meanwhile, less exciting roles seem to offer a quiet boredom premium in return for higher salaries. Do you separate how you earn from how you find fulfillment outside work?

It’s Christmas today, and I’m taking a moment to reflect on how much growth can happen quietly over a year. Balancing work and school has taught me patience, resilience, and how to show up even when life feels heavy. Grateful for progress that isn’t always visible but is deeply earned. What’s one way you’ve grown this year that others might not see?

How’s Rise & Run as a creative? Any and all info is appreciated. 2 biggest questions are of course, will I ever be able to do anything remotely good? And how is work/life balance? And for anyone who is like, “It’s horrible, stay away,” can you maybe also mention a shop(s) that you do NOT feel that way about? Thank you in advance
