I’m seriously considering leaving healthcare for something less stressful, and the guilt is crushing. I love helping people, and I never imagined walking away, but I also want a life that doesn’t drain everything I have. The constant pressure, short staffing, and emotional toll are wearing me down. It feels like choosing between purpose and survival. How do you weigh passion against protecting your own well-being when deciding what comes next?

Lately I’ve been thinking that the most valuable skill in healthcare isn’t clinical expertise anymore, it’s emotional endurance. The ability to absorb stress, grief, anger, and constant pressure without breaking seems more rewarded than actual skill or knowledge. That realization worries me. It feels like the system is built to test how much people can take rather than how well they can care. Does anyone else feel uneasy about what that says about where healthcare is headed?

Working as a health care worker has opened up my mindset about humans health and well being,it makes me to understand the value and the need to be there when someone is in need of help, also being a health care worker has also made me to be able manage my emotions and think critically when situations become too critical to handle, and with the help of God I've been been able to get that emotional intelligence and some knowledge about health and safety and the safety of others 😌

A healthier career doesn’t end with following the “right”- career choice… this is arguably just the start. It also depends on how you go about that career to make sure it meets your professional & personal needs. This includes looking after your own mental, physical & social wellbeing. It’s not easy to prioritise our own health though, especially when you work in industries which have literally trained you to put the health of others first. Continued in the comments. 🤍

What if your medicine was alive? 👀🧬 That’s the power of cell therapy: using living cells to treat disease, repair damage, and regenerate tissue. From CAR-T cells that fight cancer to iPSCs that can become almost any cell type, this field is reshaping the future of healthcare. And it’s not just theory, we’re doing this in the lab right now 🧫💥 Whether you’re new to biotech or deep in the science, this is one area you’ll want to keep an eye on 👀💡

During a recent work break, I realized the importance of mental health and well-being in our hectic lives. A healthy mind is crucial for maintaining focus and creativity, as it directly impacts our productivity and relationships at work. Even a few minutes to pause and breathe can significantly enhance our overall wellness. It's vital to incorporate brief self-checks into our daily routines. How do you take care of yourself at work? Thoughts!

Whenever I look back over my long career, I think about why I went into healthcare. For me, it was because I loved chemistry and biology, and helping people. And that's the truth. I can't see myself doing anything else because, as I always say, if you don't have your health, you don't have anything. Why did you get into what you do? Was it because you really wanted to help people, or was it just because you didn't think of anything else?

My workplace just presented health insurance costs for employees for next year and they have gone way up and my employer is offering mainly catastrophic plans that are not realistic for most people. It’s truly insulting working in healthcare and getting terrible insurance. This wasn’t the case at my previous workplaces but I also know times have changed. Does anyone here working in this industry actually get good health benefits?

For those of you who’ve “made it” in advertising—did it actually make you happy? I’ll give you some context. I’ve worked at general market agencies in my home country and, more recently, at healthcare agencies in New York. I’ve never really enjoyed healthcare, but I’ve always tried to elevate the work, regardless of limitations. [Continues in the comment section]
