      Human Resources

      Human Resources

Hello — looking for guidance on a workplace issue. We hired a manager’s son because he was highly qualified and has done a great job. Recently, two employees raised concerns about perceived favoritism. In reality, he’s often taken on difficult tasks others declined, but we can’t share those details. The perception is now affecting morale and team dynamics. Global HR said upper management should handle instead of HR. Seems not right. Any advice on managing the perception and team dynamics?

      Career Pivot

      Data Analyst
      10mo

Hi guys I’m a analytics professional. Previous role was Supply Chain analyst. Entire team got laid off just as I moved here to Dallas area. I’ve realized that I enjoy data but would love to transition more fully into the supply chain roles, I want to use my data experience as an asset. I just can’t stay behind a desk forever. Either want a collaboration heavy role with lots of meetings or want to be out and about in the plant/factory floor. Any suggestions on pivots? Happy to connect!

My first job ever is WFH, I don’t know much about office dynamics and it’s hard to keep it up on the social side of the job even when it comes to networking online. Another issue is that I stay home for very long days maybe a week where I even order groceries online. I think this makes me overthink really bad over everything and worry too much about literally anything. On the other hand, I really need the job and somehow like it, but I really can’t adjust my work-life balance on any level

I've worked at ThisWay Global for several years and have moved through a variety of positions within the company. It is a challenging environment at times, as we pivot quickly and have deadlines that shift as business needs shift. However, it is one of the best places for learning how to manage multiple tasks, and has always been a place that has allowed for lateral AND vertical movement if you show interest and initiative. I feel taken care of here and respected as an employee.

      Consulting

Any advice on navigating management culture without quitting my job? At my previous consulting firm, I thrived on autonomy, drove initiatives, and was recognized as a SME. My new team is far more rigid — no client contact, no questions, and strict adherence to instructions. It’s been going on for 6 months. I’m trying to adjust, but it feels like a poor fit. The Project Lead / Management bleeds emotions down, which adds to the challenge, and I’m missing out on client experience.

I’m working in a cross-functional, hands-on technical role with multiple teams at a client. There’s no Scrum of Scrums or neutral project manager to coordinate across teams. This creates a tricky situation: if I move faster, it can irk leadership of another team as it highlights gaps; if I keep pace with the slower team, I risk being labeled a slacker. How have others navigated these kinds of dynamics with their managers? Planning to have a 1:1 with some key folks. Thank you.

      Interview Tips

      Project Engineer
      10mo

I interviewed for a Project Engineer role at National Grid Electricity Distribution, traveling from Glasgow to Taunton. After three weeks of follow-ups, I received an automated rejection email without feedback. The recruiter later promised feedback within 28 days. Similarly, last year, National Grid Transmission rejected me after a month long wait post interview without feedback. These experiences reflect a company culture that disregards candidates’ time and efforts.

Any pros and cons at General Dynamics as a machinist. I have roughly 2-3 years of experience of CNC machining. I know the basics of setting up a machine with the use of a probe or edge finder, touching off tools with or with out tool setter, indicating vises, reading blueprint and reading calipers/micrometer. With all my experience would I be a good enough candidate to work for General Dynamics, im willing to go to school to improve myself even more.

      Consulting Exit Opportunities

      works at Public Consulting Group
      7mo

Eight years of healthcare experience in Medicaid reimbursement. The last two years of consulting experience in revenue cycle management at Huron as an associate. Getting paid about 120K. What are my options in terms of exit strategies? Which companies could potentially go to and make a jump to manager? Which companies would hire me to based on transferable skills? What would be a good Segway out of revenue cycle management and into something else ? Huron
