      Job Hunting in Tech

I got laid off from a large AV integrator recently because the division and I was in got cut and everyone in that group was let go without any regard to performance. I've been looking for 3 months and have 30+ years of industry experience with 15 years of design engineering experience. I am having a hard time getting past the AI bots that read my resume and send an automatic rejection before a human even looks at my application. Any advice? Are there any integrators hiring design engineers?

I am a female recently back in banking after a hiatus and have a question about dress code. Female perspectives preferred, no offense. I have traditional Ann Taylor type suits and also recently bought tweed blazers from Talbots, Macys…etc. Most of them are dark but have a bit of metallic thread/ gold buttons. I would pair with navy/ black pants. I don’t have many women in my office that wear business professional so I’m trying to understand where we are as an industry. Thanks a bunch!

Actively seeking an interior design role. While my professional experience spans lighting, furniture, tiles, bathware, and flooring, I have primarily worked in specialized areas closely related to interior design. Though I do not have formal interior design project experience, my technical knowledge across these sectors provides a strong foundation for design execution, material specification, and client consultation. Any tips would be appreciated

I have an interview coming up very soon and want to make sure that I dress to impress and that I am on point fashion wise. I was always told that ladies should wear a fancy blazer with matching skirt, high heels and stockings with hair up in a bun. Is that still the fashion norm? It's been many years since I have interviewed and want to look current and relevant. Thoughts and opinions?

This is a question for all the hiring managers, what do you think is the best attire for an in-person and an online interview? I feel like you can get away with a semi-formal look like a polo shirt in an online interview but for in-person interviews you have to have a formal attire like a dress shirt, formal trousers, and dress shoes.

What, according to you, is the most professional outfit to wear to an interview? I've always just worn my scrubs to work, so I never invested in any professional attires. I have an interview scheduled for next week, and going through my closet made me realize that I probably need to go shopping. What should I buy?

I've gotten an interview for next week, and I've been researching the company, but I'm still unclear about their dress code and culture. Their office photos show a mix of casual and business attire. Should I ask my recruiter or contact person about interview expectations, or is formal business wear always the safe bet?

Bain - can anyone tell me what the dress code is like? Moving from another MBB and all offices I spent time in were pretty casual so wondering if I can get away with button down/sweaters + chinos + nicer white sneakers (male). Don’t like wearing dress shoes but also don’t want to stick out if it’s not the norm.

I've got a Fortune 500 interview coming up next week, and it's been over ten years since I last interviewed. I want to make a strong impression, so I'm looking for some modern advice on professional attire. What's the standard these days - is a suit still preferred, and what colors are generally recommended?

How strict is your dress code at work? Or better yet who is playing the "dress as expensive as I can" game with ither colleagues? A good 3/4 of the sales department at my job is on their game while im cool with my comfy van heusing stretch. What brands are you into and to you care to "Dress to impress"?
