Anyone work at Simon Kucher & Partners and able to tell how things are going there? Currently interviewing with them and Oliver Wyman - not sure which one has better WLB, culture, etc. Both are for senior consultant role, similar teams (Commercial Excellence vertical within Private Capital at OW, Health Tech & Solutions at SKP), starting total comp is similar, SKP slightly more Would be great to get opinion or connect with anyone who’s worked at both. Is K&E funds really as bad as their reputation? Billing relatively high each year (2500+) and considering the jump. 6th year NY at a decent funds group but difficult people and partnership seems off the table. I am aware that kirkland’s income partner track is essentially a lower paid senior associate when accounting for benefits but would appreciate insights.

Been exploring new job opportunities and have been looking at boutique consultancies. I came across Simon-Kucher & Parters - do they have a good reputation? What would exit opportunities be after a few years there? Does it provide a good path to tech, corporate, PE, MBB, or Big 4? I’m exploring FS and TMT groups.

I’ve noticed several people I know being promoted to “partner” at K&E as a 5th year associate. Is this normal? Curious what partner track looks like there and why someone would make it so early on in their career. I presume it is non-equity partnership, but still. Would love any insight!

Is there a place at K&E for folks who want to basically be (semi) perma counsel? Could I lateral there as a senior and bang out deals in my niche (which K&E has the best/largest platform for doing) for a few years without competing for equity partnership? Is there such a thing as reduced hours there?

Can any NY midlevel funds associates at K&E share their experiences? Got an offer and was going to accept, but hearing some horror stories as I connected with more people this past week, so considering heading to STB or Proskauer instead (have offers at both of these as well)

K&E bonus: 80% of associates and 95% income partners will receive above market bonus. Some associates and income partners will receive double the market. Hours-based extra bonus is double of what was paid out last year.

Do all equity partners (except those in public firms) get paid via a K-1? How massive is the tax hit when paying taxes in all states where the firm does business? Also, how big is the tax hit on having to pay all FICA etc. yourself?

"The Partners" by James B. Stewart. Am I the only one who's never heard of this book before? It's selling for $400-$500 per paper copy on Amazon, and there's no official ebook for it. I'm looking forward to reading it, but I'm sure it's out of date.
