Am I going to be worked to the bone if I join a group where I’d be the only associate supporting partners and counsels? It’s a subgroup of a corporate practice that focuses on a specialized area with great exit options and operates as a support group for other transactional and/or lit groups (like tax or IP). It’s a newly created position meaning there aren’t any previous associates that I can ask about their experience. I really like type of work the team does but worried about being miserable.

I’m a manager and just switched companies. As a manager I am supposed to be leading the calls. Is it reasonable to ask my SM to lead the first call I am on since I’m new to the company so I can see if there are any differences in how they handle calls here compared to my old company? Or would that come across as being lazy and not taking initiative? I don’t want to burn any bridges and ruin a connection since I’m new and this is my first project.

I recently joined a new firm and while everyone’s technically nice, there’s a clear “in group” on every project. Jokes I don’t get, Slack threads I’m not tagged in, impromptu coffee chats I only hear about after the fact. It’s not toxic, but it’s definitely isolating. I’m trying not to force connections or be that person who pushes too hard to fit in, but I also don’t want to stay on the outside. How do you actually build real relationships across teams like this?

I am in b2b marketing, and i have to agree with this POV that a short term focus on KPIs and lead gen is harmful to productivity. We have weekly lead reviews across our team and with sales, and end up getting useless to do lists to 'investigate' lower quality leads coming in, instead of focusing on creating long term growth. How do you balance delivering short term ROI with long term growth? https://www.marketingweek.com/leads-misalignment-b2b-the-lowdown/

My coworker (Dir) and I (Assoc Dir) both report to our manager (Sr Dir) who reports to the head of a group. Our work is more or less the same - I’m not entirely sure what he does differently vs me but he has more YOE total. Can I make a push for Dir within this same group? If not, what can I do to show boss(es) I am ready? Coming from consulting btw where promotions are time-based and checklist-based, so new to the industry ways of working

I’m up for partner again this year. This is my second attempt. I got contacted by a firm client trying to recruit me for an in house role. I said no. Would it be beneficial for partnership prospects to let my group heads know that I was recruited by their client but I turned it down? Does that show loyalty and/or that I’m in high demand, or is it not a good look for them to know that I’m even having conversations about other roles?

I’ve grown both personally and professionally at ConvenientMD, and what stands out most is the genuine commitment to people. Leadership actively seeks feedback through surveys, focus groups, and conversations — and works to turn it into action. It’s not perfect, but there’s transparency and a real drive to improve. The pace is fast and change is constant, but for adaptable, collaborative, purpose-driven people, it’s an energizing place to build a career.

How do I know when my group is toxic/when is it time to lateral? I am so burnt out after multiple 2400 years and don’t feel like my group cares at all they’re constantly expecting more from me. Making below market and have the opportunity to make market. At one point I was told I could make partner by my group head but I’m not so sure I want it if this is the cost. I wake up every day hating my job. 4th year.

Hello Glassdoor Community, I’m seeking a Lead Instructional Designer or L&D Lead role. I love my current team but have outgrown my responsibilities, and growth isn’t possible internally. With strong corporate services experience, referrals, and my manager’s support, I’m eager for new opportunities. If you know of real openings, please share the company name so I can apply directly. Thank you!

I was asked to take on a Sr lead role and I said yes because I figured it would be a good step forward. But here I am months later doing all the extra work with none of the extra pay. They piled on responsibilities fast but somehow the conversation about money is taking its time. Ever been in that spot where you want the growth but you also feel like you are getting played a little? Because that’s how I am feel now!
