Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but my last job was in gov contracting (think Booz Allen Hamilton type of place) and I’m wondering if I’m allowed to 1) list the agency I worked with/for as a staff aug on my resume and 2) share the name of the agency in interviews….? I wasn’t working with CIA, and I was not doing top secret cleared work or anything, and I am not disclosing any sensitive work I did in my resume bullets. Can I mention client name or should I just say “federal client?”

I like the company I work for but it seems that the best way to go up in salary is to go up in job difficulty. So I was thinking I would venture into the more data prep side since that’s what I most enjoy about my current role. If you were someone on the interview panel for a role that worked primarily for preparing datasets, what kind of work would you want to see? What kind of messes would you have wanted me to have cleaned? What should be on my portfolio? Working mainly with AWS! TIA!

How do you all keep track of numbers or when people start introducing their methodology without visuals? I start tuning out as soon as I hear multiple numbers at once. The best way for me to pay attention and continue following along is to write things down, but people talk too fast. Delayed audio processing doesn't help either. I've struggled with this during case interviews and IRL, so I'm starting to wonder if I'm even capable of consulting or anything to do with numbers. :/

Most people trying to break into AI get pushed into data labeling. I didn’t. I built NarroVue — a system that turns messy, conflicting documents into structured outputs: what’s claimed, where sources align or conflict, and what’s missing. No degree, no team—just building. It works, but revenue isn’t stable yet. Looking for contract or part-time work where structured thinking and real-world problem solving matter. GitHub: github.com/NarroVue

Talking with my wife about different concert experiences recently resulted in me having an epiphany. I've been working with data in education for the past few years, but I think I want to shift my focus into music data analytics to help artists determine which cities, venues, and playlists would get the best turnout and response from a touring artists crowd. I'm not sure what kind of role would be best to look into for this. Any thoughts/suggestions?

They changed my work title and responsibilities this year. How would I even go about getting market data? It’s one of those internal type titles that isn’t going to be easy to find or compare. I’ve tried ChatGPT so far and copilot. They’re telling me different things. How would you go about researching salary expectations? I’d like to know so I could find new jobs. I feel I’m not making enough since I’ve been with the company for over 10+ years.
